MTB at home – with free komoot region on discovery tour

Mountain Biking Collection by VAUDE

Quickly to the Vaude-Store, pick up a voucher for a komoot-region package and start cycling right away: It is no secret that there are a lot of trail paradises around the metropolitan region Nuremberg-Fürth-Erlangen. But even for mountain bikers who don't necessarily have to take every meter of altitude and depth along the way, the region has more than just one route up its sleeve. We've put together a few relaxed panoramic tours for you that focus on nature, culture and views. Okay, and one trail baller is also included. It would be kind of weird to completely ignore this essential part of Franconia's MTB culture.

All tours can be done with a hardtail without any problems, only on the trail lap behind the Nuremberg Zoo you might feel more comfortable with a Fully. We recommend you to drink enough and take some snacks with you on all tours - currently many restaurants are closed and you don't want to have to shorten your ride because of a growling stomach.

Please also remember to bring a repair kit and some tools to help you in case of emergency. In case of major breakdowns the ADFC offers a towing service for bicycles.

Good starting points for all tours are our VAUDE stores in Nuremberg and Erlangen. There you can pick up a voucher for a free Komoot region before your tour (of course we recommend Nuremburg-Erlangen). This way you can download all tours of this collection to your smartphone and let yourself be navigated offline.

This gourmet tour takes you along the Nuremberg waterways. It is not a major technical challenge and is therefore also perfectly suitable for MTB beginners or for a leisurely afternoon lap. The only MTB element is the Föhrenbruck Trail, which can also be left out. Otherwise, it is very relaxed with a moderate height of 150 meters over 30 kilometers and you can also ride the tour with a gravel or trekking bike without any problems.Alongside lots of fresh air, on the way you can expect small highlights such as Steiner Wassergasse and the cute White House, where you can stop for a drink or a snack. You can watch the shipping traffic at the canal lock and at the harbor. You start at the canal lock and follow the Rednitz before you collect a few meters of height and depth on the Föhrenbruck Trail. Then it continues past the port of Nuremberg and along the Main-Danube Canal back to the starting point.

Therefore, you can leave your fully at home without any problems and either go on a hardtail or gravel bike.In summer, the Birkensee is perfect for making a leisurely trip to swim from the quick lap.

Welcome to the trail network behind the Tiergarten! The goal of this tour is to pack as many trails as possible in one compact exit so that you can shoot through without a break and have time for other things the rest of the day.The tour starts at the zoo and takes you through long and short trails with different levels of difficulty (from S0-S2) through the extensive Reichswald and back. The highlight is the last trail of our exit: a never-ending single trail that feels like half the way back.Travel is definitely required for this tour. With a cross country fully you are ideally positioned, but the tour also goes well with a hardtail.

This leisurely half-day tour takes you over the clay pit Marloffstein to the Waldschänke Streitbaum and over the Atzelsberger Trails back to Erlangen. Ideal to lift your head a little and get out into nature. On this tour, the focus is less on trail balls than on the route and nature experience. Only towards the end of the exit can you hunt your mountain bike over some rather simple trails (single trail scale S0-S1).It starts from the Erlangen train station towards Marloffstein, at first leisurely, then with a bit of an incline. As soon as you have reached Marloffstein and have made a short exploration break at the clay pit, it continues with steady up and down towards Waldschänke. To achieve this, you have to face the biggest climb on the tour. It's a good thing that the well-deserved break with food and drink is waiting upstairs! Now the trail-heavy part of the tour begins. In addition to the descent from the Waldschänke, the way home also takes you through the trail network at Atzelsberg, where you can certainly install more than one descent. Then you roll relaxed back to Erlangen.

This tour takes you into the forests northwest of Erlangen. With a leisurely incline, many flat trails and beautiful forest trails, this tour is not a big challenge, but ideal for rolling the bike a few kilometers and leaving the city behind you.It starts at the Erlangen train station in northwest direction to the Dechsendorfer pond. You stay close to the shore for a few kilometers before diving into the forest. The tour now takes you alternately along forest trails and easy trails.About halfway there are a few interesting sandstone formations waiting to be explored by you. The way back is along the Main-Danube Canal, which you exchange for a last small single-trail forest section just before Erlangen.
