Relaxed riding in the mountains – E-mountain biking in the Brixen Valley

Mountain Biking Collection by Kitzbüheler Alpen

Crisp single trails, wide gravel roads, and leisurely bike paths – the Kitzbühel Alps offer almost endless bike touring possibilities through spectacular mountains. Reaching high vantage points and cozy alpine huts at lofty heights is usually a rather sweaty affair. But, with an e-bike, you take on extreme climbs with extra electric umph. In this Collection, we present seven e-bike Tours, from easy to medium difficulty, through the picturesque Brixen Valley in Austria. Here, the focus is enjoying the ride.

The Kitzbühel Alps make up part of the largest e-bike destination in the world. Countless biking destinations have joined forces and created a great network of trails and offers for e-bikers. You can be sure that the region is well prepared to welcome you as an e-biker.
For example, many places have e-bike charging stations to recharge your bike even high up on mountain pastures while you enjoy a cool drink next door. If you don't have your own e-bike, you can easily rent one and, if you are unsure, you can book a guide who will accompany you and give you helpful tips. The Kitzbühel Alps are waiting for you!

A real pleasure tour! Sure, the Käsealm is the highlight. But also on the way there and back there are always little temptations waiting for you, which you can give in to. Although this tour is relatively short and does not pose a major physical challenge, you can plan a little more time and eat your way through the regional delicacies on the way. From the start in Brixen, you first ride warm on a beautiful bike path along the Brixentaler Ache, before you turn into the picturesque Windau valley. Here you follow the course of the Windauer Ache, an idyllic mountain river whose rushing accompanies you sometimes very close, sometimes from a distance. The highlight is the Käsealm Straubing. In the rustic hut you get a rustic snack and of course delicious cheese specialties from the region. Well strengthened, it goes back to Brixen on the other side of the river.

Expert e-mountain bike ride. Good fitness required. Advanced riding skills necessary. Some portions of the Tour may require you to push your bike.

On this lap, right at the beginning of the climb, you climb around 900 meters in altitude, which can be quite a pleasure - when you're on the e-bike! The engine hums quietly and helps you to concentrate on the essentials: the beautiful mountains and the magnificent view that gets better with every meter of altitude. Arrived at the Salvensee, you have reached the first big highlight of the round. Here you can just let your soul (and your feet in the water) dangle and enjoy the mountains in peace. If you are hungry, various huts nearby invite you to stop for a break. The following descent does not require a motor because it is just so fun! Let your bike roll and the wind blow around your nose. At the Stücklealm or in Hochsöll, the next break is waiting. On the way to the Silleralm you can look forward to the turbo mode of your bike again: the steep ramp with up to 30 percent incline is really tough. But you can look forward to the reward. The idyllic Filzalmsee is an ideal place to take a picnic break, take a deep breath and enjoy the view of the mountains, which are reflected in the water. The return journey is then very relaxed on a quiet side road past the mountain inn Nieding back into the valley to Brixen.

From Westendorf, this tour takes you around ten kilometers to the picturesque Brechhornhaus, where you really deserve your break. If you have brought your own provisions and like it to be quiet and idyllic, you can also enjoy your rest at the Kreuzjöchlsee. The view of the surrounding peaks of the Brixental valley is particularly beautiful from there. After you have rested and strengthened yourself, you have the choice: You can easily start the way back. Or you can still button the summit of the Brechhorn. You can reach it with your e-bike via easily rideable paths and at the end via a steep single trail. If you are not comfortable with this, you can just go on a short hike. It's only about four kilometers from the Brechhornhaus to the summit, which you can easily master on foot. No matter how you get up: the view is terrific!By the way: The Brechhornhaus also offers overnight accommodation. How about a quiet overnight stay in the middle of the mountains?

The Labalm is located in the rear Spertental at the foot of the Großer Rettenstein at an altitude of 1,264. Embedded in the picturesque mountains of the Kitzbühel Alps, it is the ideal place for a leisurely break and the (culinary) highlight of this short tour that starts in Kirchberg. Most of the route runs parallel to the Aschauer Ache in the Unteren Grund. You leave the main road to the left and instead prefer to cycle on quiet side streets, gravel paths or sometimes short trail passages. The ascent is mostly moderate, the number of meters in altitude manageable. Only at the very end it gets a little steeper, here you can activate the turbo mode of your e-bike for a moment. The tour is short and easy to drive. It is perfect for getting used to cycling in the mountains - even with the whole family. The promising Labalm is definitely worth a visit.

You can start this big round from Brixen, Kirchberg and Westendorf. The route around the Hohe Salve is not the shortest, but it is mostly very flat and almost the entire route is criss-crossed by beautiful bike paths. Therefore, this tour is also ideal for a family excursion by bike.If you start in Brixen, you first drive relaxed on the asphalted Brixentaler cycle path to Kirchberg. You cross the beautiful place and you will soon be back on the bike path towards Kitzbühel. A short stretch of road awaits you at the golf course at Schwarzsee before it becomes wonderfully quiet again on the next cycle path to the Stanglwirt. On a forest path you reach the village of Going and finally, after a short ascent, the municipality of Ellmau.Again and again you come through cozy, typical villages that invite you to take a little break. In Scheffau, Söll or in the small town of Itter you will find refreshment stops to strengthen yourself and to enjoy the beautiful atmosphere before continuing on quiet bike paths. Finally, after around 52 wonderful kilometers on the bike via Hopfgarten, Windau and Westendorf, you come back to Brixen.

This moderately difficult e-bike tour has everything that belongs to a bike tour in the Alps: the picturesque backdrop of the mountain peaks all around, crisp climbs, rapid descents and idyllically located, promising refreshment stops where you can strengthen yourself and enjoy the beautiful landscape . Thanks to the e-bike, even the long ascent of this tour is pure pleasure. You start in Kirchberg and first follow quiet side streets, gravel paths and short trail sections of the Aschauer Ache, the noise of which is always with you. Again and again you have wonderful views of the lively mountain river, which you follow to Aschau. At the beautifully located Klooalm you can strengthen yourself again and prepare mentally for the climb that follows. It requires stamina, because it leads you up to the 1,938 meter high Pengelstein. Once at the top, you should definitely treat yourself to a promising break at one of the beautifully landscaped reservoirs. From now on you can expect pure enjoyment. The scenic high path offers you again and again fantastic views of the surrounding mountains and above all of the striking summit of the Wilder Kaiser. Various viewpoints, reservoirs and alpine huts invite you to rest up here again and again. When you've had your fill, you can look forward to a long descent to Kitzbühel. Just let the wind blow around your nose and enjoy the speed and the view. You can just let your bike run, because the quiet streets and paths are easy to ride, so they don't require special concentration. When you arrive at the bottom, a nice mix of bike paths, back roads and gravel paths is waiting for you. Without any incline you drive past the Schwarzsee and along the Aschauer Ache back to Kirchberg.

With a length of almost 32 kilometers and an altitude of almost 1,200 meters, this tour is something special - even with the e-bike. The varied elevation profile, many refreshment stops and of course the beautiful mountain landscape make it an entertaining pleasure. And with the idyllic, more than 500 year old Tiefentalam, you have a destination in mind that is absolutely worthwhile. After starting in Brixen, you first follow the beautiful, flat bike path of the Brixentaler Ache. After you have passed the Lendwirt, it goes steeply uphill for the first time in the direction of Grubenberg, before the route turns left into the Langen Grund. Now it goes steadily, but moderately, uphill and you keep coming back through cozy little villages with refreshment stops.Towards the end of the route it gets a little steeper again. Here you can really step on the pedals again - or switch to turbo mode. After a nice break on the Tiefentalalm, you finally come back to the starting point in Brixen on the long descent.
