An unsupported solo bikepacking adventure across western Iceland, from the south of the country to the West Fjord peninsula. It was one of the most intimate experiences of my life. I cycled completely alone, immersed in the magic of Iceland’s unique and wild landscapes, only stopping every 50 – 60 kilometers when I came across an isolated gas station. I’d take the opportunity to warm up with a good cup of coffee and a tasty cinnamon bun – a typical Icelandic treat – before riding on.Una piccola avventure senza supporto, in assetto da bikepacking, attraverso l'Islanda, dal sud dell'isola fino all'area dei Fiordi occidentali.
First ride in the icelandic landscape. Tasting the "icy" asphalt

When the Plan B becomes better than Plan A. Forced to go through the Thingvellir Park (because the Kjlour path is closed) I discovered an incredible road, riding alone with a magic sunset in front of me. -15°C!
Thanks so much :-)
All the way to reach the southern coast of the West-Fjord area. Today I really deserved a big dinner :-D
I decided to stop here for a day to enjoy this beautiful area. I did a short recovery ride, and stopped for a good lunch in a lovely small village, and enjoyed the warm water of a typical Icelandic hot pot (a typical small heated pool)!
The most amazingly wild ride. Icy surfaces, completely deserted roads, I even had to walk on the top of the last mountain. When I arrived in Isafjordur everyone asked me if it was possible to ride here in winter. The answer is yes, but it was a real mental effort. Tired but happy.
I met this lovely couple in Isafjordur. They followed my trip on my social pages and it was amazing to have someone in such a small town, in the heart of the arctic, waiting for me. Thanks! Icelandic people are truly lovely.
Definitely yes Fleck!
