The idyllic River Moselle provides a backdrop for a fantastic cycling holiday. As you ride through the culture-rich region around the medieval town of Bernkastel-Kues in German, you discover picturesque vineyards, the deep Moselle valley, quiet forests, and dreamlike fairytale castles perched atop rocky outcrops. Following cycle paths, you ride to the most beautiful vantage points overlooking the Moselle Valley and to historical sites revealing the region’s diverse past.

In this Collection, we showcase the vast variety that the Bernkastel-Kues region offers cyclists. We present 12 cycling routes that include something from everyone: from relaxed rides along the river to sporty circuits through the Hunsrück hills and action-packed mountain bike trails. The routes take you along the banks of the river, through idyllic valleys and up into the County of Veldenz before exploring the plateaus above the Moselle Valley and the vineyards. The Maare-Moselle cycle path is the only route that is not circular. It starts in Daun, where you can get to by bike bus from Bernkastel-Kues, and follows an old railway line to the Moselle.

No matter which of the beautiful bike routes you choose, they all have one thing in common: unforgettable views of the Moselle valley, steep vineyards, fairytale forests, and colourful meadows. You will also find many cosy inns, beer gardens and wine taverns en route where you can taste the wine of the famous vineyards through which you cycle.
