Cycling without borders — Fietsen in the Grafschaft Bentheim

Bike Touring Collection by Grafschaft Bentheim

In Grafschaft Bentheim you cycle on beautiful routes through a wonderfully flat landscape, past wide meadows, romantic waters and through rustic forests. Typical wall hedges, impressive castles and small villages with idyllic wind and water mills set unforgettable accents along the way.

It is a unique experience to discover the Grafschaft Bentheim by bike. After all, over 620 miles (1,000 kilometers) of well-maintained and signposted cycle paths await you. Located directly on the Dutch border in the northwest of Germany and in the southwest of Lower Saxony, the county offers you cross-border cycling fun. The language also crosses borders, or rather, it knows no borders, which is why cycling here in the county is called "Fietsen", just like in the Netherlands.

In this collection we show you the seven most beautiful fietsen tours in Grafschaft Bentheim. The tours are between 17 and 40 miles (28 and 64 kilometers) long and suitable for the whole family. On the varied cycle tours you will enjoy wonderful nature, historic old towns and unique mills. From small hills and observation towers you can enjoy fascinating views over the county, as far as the Netherlands, the Münsterland and the Emsland. Of course, some of the tours also take you across the border into the Netherlands.

At the starting points and along the routes you can look forward to a wide range of bike-related services: In addition to bicycle-friendly restaurants and bicycle service stations, the Fietsenbus is also available to you. The bike bus is equipped with a trailer and will give you and your bike a ride if you want to shorten a tour. With so much comfort for cyclists, it is no wonder that Grafschaft Bentheim has been awarded the title of "Bicycle Friendly District of Lower Saxony" several times. So you can look forward to cycling without borders or as they say here: "Fietsen without borders"!
