The Odenwald once belonged to the Empire of Rome. In the east, the border wall Limes protected the Romans from the "wild" Teutons. Even today you can find in the landscape the interesting legacies of the Romans. One of them is on this tour: The Roman Villa Haselburg was a manor, of which there were many in the past. Their floor plans have been uncovered and are freely accessible as an open-air museum.
This varied tour is perfect for getting to know the Odenwald and Bergstraße in all its facets. On the way you can enjoy beautiful views over the Fischbachtal, drive through dense forest or over promising fields, past vineyards and through moist valleys.Highlight on this tour is undoubtedly the castle Lichtenberg in Fischbachtal, which dominates the landscape of the Odenwald. A visit to the beautiful castle complex from the 16th century is worthwhile just because of the view.
Mountain biking and viticulture have something in common: if the mountain slopes are steep and sunny, it works very well! This approximately 37 kilometers long and quite demanding tour offers the best conditions for biking, but also for the wine, which thrives here magnificently. On this tour, you will cycle through the "Odenwald Wine Island", one of the smallest wine-growing regions in Germany, which produces racy and high-quality wines that you should definitely taste after the round.
On this tour through the Odenwald and along the mountain road you can expect wonderful viewpoints, idyllic valleys, happy babbling brooks and all sorts of cozy rest stops. Technically, the route is rather simple, but the altitude require some fitness. But since the tour consists of two separate laps, you can easily halve them - the perfect mountain bike adventure for the whole family!
