Framed between France, Luxembourg and Germany, Walloon is home to a wooded low mountain range – the Ardennes. Rivers and streams meander here and there through the unspoiled landscape, making the Ardennes a wonderful hiking region. The area is particularly picturesque in autumn, when the leaves of the trees turn into a variety of orange and red tones and create a magical atmosphere. On these twelve circular walks we lead you to the oldest villages, the most impressive castles, the most exciting vantage points and of course the most beautiful river valleys of the Ardennes.
You can already look forward to very varied landscapes. In the south – on the edge of France - the Semois meanders through a romantic valley, adorned on both sides by beech forests and impressive rock formations. Especially around Bouillon there are many viewpoints that offer you wonderful panoramic views over the wooded Ardennes. Further to the north, around the famous spa, you wander on boardwalks through the endless high moor landscape of the High Fens. In between, hilly forest areas lure with lively bubbling torrents. In the west, on the edge of the Ardennes, the forests open and our routes lead you over open hills, through narrow river valleys and to romantic castles.
But there is something between nature and culture. Pretty villages with centuries of history, perfectly preserved castles, abandoned castle ruins and cozy towns are just waiting for your exploration.
Be inspired by our tours and discover the Ardennes in Wallonia – a hiking paradise for sunny autumn days.
