The Hase Ems cycleway guides you through luscious fields and meadows, idyllic forests, and enchanted moorlands in the Hasetal and Emsland. You will follow the region’s rivers, cycling along picturesque banks, passing interesting towns such as the peace city Osnabrück, and discovering the foothills of the Teutoburg Forest and Emsland along the way.

This Collection guides you along the Hase Ems cycleway in seven stages, as it leads 205 miles (330 kilometers) Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia. As the route starts from the station in Melle, you can easily get there by train, for example from Osnabrück. Next, you will follow the Hase from its source in Melle as it meanders through Osnabrück to Meppen, flowing into the Ems. From Meppen, you will cycle south along the Ems to the Rhein. Here, you will leave the river and head west back to Osnabrück, where the tour ends at the main railway station. You can comfortably travel home by local or long-distance train from here.

Along the route and at the end of each stage of the Hase Ems cycleway, you will find a wide range of overnight accommodation options. In addition, all finishing points have a train station, giving you the option to only ride certain stages if the entire route is too long for you or if the weather turns. On the way, you can tuck into a bite to eat at many cafes and restaurants if you are hungry. The towns and villages offer welcoming cafes. You can also find rest areas surrounded by beautiful nature at regular intervals if you prefer to stop outdoors. As the cycleway enjoys great infrastructure, you can relax and enjoy a wonderful and flexible adventure.
