Hiking at three altitudes — that is the motto in Oberstdorf. Relaxed hikers and families stroll on the flattest plain through picturesque valleys from mountain pasture to mountain pasture. At medium altitudes, on the other hand, you can explore the vast alpine meadows and even climb the occasional mountain. The third and most challenging altitude level offers the most exciting mountain adventures high up on the rocky peaks of the Allgäu main ridge. We have selected a total of eleven hikes to help you explore the picturesque mountain world of the Allgäu at all three altitudes. And, one thing is already certain: no matter which level you choose, the impressive nature around Oberstdorf will fascinate you.
In this Collection, our twelve handpicked routes, will take you on a hike to the most beautiful places in the mountains around Oberstdorf: Explore picturesque valleys and visit romantic mountain villages such as Gerstruben. Climb up to the lush meadows and magnificent mountain panoramas in the Oytal — and then roll down into the valley on a mountain scooter. Hike from the Austrian Kleinwalsertal to the Söllereck, where the summer toboggan run or gondola lift will take you back to the valley. Whether you are looking for strenuous mountain treks, a leisurely hike or a walk with the whole family — the hiking trails in the Allgäu mountains and through the romantic valleys are just the right thing.
If, on the other hand, you are looking for mountain adventures, you should definitely take a closer look at the hikes on the Allgäu main ridge. These routes take you on exciting and panoramic paths to Hahnenköpfle or over the Älpelesattel. The panoramic peaks around Oberstdorf offer everyone a completely new perspective of the Allgäu and a wonderful variety of hikes.
We will also take you to mountain huts high up in the Allgäu Alps. Climb up to the Fiderepass hut or visit the Kemptner hut, the first hut on the popular E5 trail crossing the alps. Once you've reached a hut at the top, countless peaks are within reach — it's definitely worth spending the night!
The Allgäuer Hochalpen are one of the most species-rich and diverse mountains in the Alps. In many areas you are in a nature reserve. For a sustainable nature experience and to ensure that we all together protect and preserve the nature of Oberstdorf, we would like to ask you to be prudent and respectful in all your activities. Please stay on the designated hiking and biking trails to avoid disturbing the delicate flora and fauna. Also, please close any cattle gate that you have opened yourself and keep your dog on a leash. Please keep a respectful distance from animals and avoid disturbing them. We firmly believe that together we can help to preserve the beautiful nature of Oberstdorf.
Tip: Before every tour, check out the mountain sports report from Tourismus Oberstdorf for information on the trail network and the current mountain weather. In addition, you will find information about alps, refuges and other infrastructure facilities. Also available as a newsletter! -> oberstdorf.de/alpininfo/bergsportbericht
