In this Collection, we have put together 13 different routes that show you how diverse the Pyhrn-Priel region is.
The themed trail on the Wurzeralm or the scavenger hunt on the way to Hutberg are especially geared towards families. If you're looking for a little more thrill, then you can hike through Austria's second longest gorge or scramble over the via ferrata to the Großer Priel. Are you looking for a relaxed tour with beautiful rest areas? No problem, you’ll find that here too. There are several cozy alpine huts on the way to Hengstpaß. Simply choose your favorite route – there's something for every difficulty level. You can also easily combine some of the hikes or spend an extended night on the mountain for a longer adventure.
If you are planning several days in the region Spital am Phyrn, Windischgarsten or Hinterstoder are ideal base camps. There you will find a good selection of accommodation as well as a tourist information office and the different starting points of the routes are easily accessible from the towns. On some hikes, you can even take a cable car up to the start. A plus point: you can stop off at a rustic mountain hut for refreshments along almost all hikes so you do not need to pack your backpack unnecessarily heavy.
