Get ready for Europe's longest Flow Country Trail in Bad Kleinkirchheim

Mountain Biking Collection by
Region Bad Kleinkirchheim

Mid-July 2019, the time has finally come: the new 10 mile (15.9 km) long Flow Country Trail in Bad Kleinkirchheim will open to bikers! The start of the trail is located in the middle of the alpine world of the Nockberge mountains at the Laiserburghbahn mountain station, 2,055 meters above sea level. From the start point, the route heads downhill on a fixed gravel track, that includes steep bends, drops, and bumps. The trail stretches over 10 miles (15.9 km) with an average gradient of 8 percent and a total altitude difference of almost 1,000 meters. Resting and relaxation areas along the trail offer the perfect opportunity to take wonderful breaks with a view over the southern Alpine world. To make your rides even more memorable, you can combine the routes and trails to explore more of the region.

The entire Bad Kleinkirchheim bike region offers a lot of variety. In total, the bike route network consists of 465 miles (750 km) of trails for all ability levels. The altitude difference is 2,300 meters of downhill and 1,000 meters of uphill. The five nature single trails, of varying difficulty levels, are especially popular. However, before you go on one of the nature single trails, it is recommended that beginners and less experienced bikers, should first try one of the region's practice courses and develop their technical skills there.

In Bad Kleinkircheim, you can travel all the way from the summit to the lake - a truly unique trait of the region. Some of nature's single trails and bike routes lead directly to the Bikers Lounge on the shores of the beautiful Brennsee lake. After an eventful day on the bike, you can jump straight into the clear waters of the lake for a refreshing dip.

The construction of Europe's longest Flow Country Trail is supported by the Federal Government, the Federal States and the European Union (LE 14-20):

Lakes, streams, springs, spas - on this tour you will experience first hand the abundance of water of the Nockberge. You enjoy breathtaking panoramic views and are always accompanied by the element of water - in many different ways: the lake, water activities, a waterfall, springs, streams, Maibrunn, thermal baths, the Bikerbrunnen or the Fischkulinarium. It does not matter if you start in Feld am See or Bad Kleinkirchheim, our description starts in Feld am See.Starting point of the tour is Feld am See. First it goes relatively steeply on tarmac roads over the Klamberg uphill. After a short, very steep stretch in front of the tollbooth, it then goes moderately on a gravel road towards Feldpannalm. How about a little break here? Numerous refreshments invite in any case.Strengthened it goes on. In Feldpannalpe keep left towards Rieserhütte and follow the signs. At the following fork in the road, turn left towards Rieserhütte, turn right here and follow the dirt road to Maibrunnhütte. Here you can expect a short sliding passage - take it easy and see it as a chance to enjoy the great view in peace. The following dirt road leads you back to the valley to Bad Kleinkirchheim. Here you should not miss a break in the beautiful Unterwirthütte, which is really worthwhile. In Bad Kleinkirchheim just before the confluence with the main road, you turn left towards the restaurant "Einkehr" - perhaps a good keyword? Follow the signs and turn left before the stream. Follow this path to Obertweng. Here's another little technical challenge waiting for you, maybe you'd rather push. After that you did it. Refresh yourself in Obertweng at the "Biker Brunnen" before going back to Feld am See on the road. Eating fish in Feld am See is the crowning glory of a real "water-rich tour".Starting point:

The trail runs mainly in the forest, is technically demanding, rooty and sometimes stony. You drive over a straightforward, uncompromising sunken road - a full load of mountain bike fun!
