Since the summer of 2018, Kufstein has been a hotspot for racing cycling. As part of the UCI Road Cycling World Championship, four exciting races took place in the city center of the town. It’s also no coincidence that the World Cycling Federation awarded this region the contract for the most important event of the year. There are few places that offer such variety and the perfect combination of urban flair with idyllic river valleys, mountain lakes, and remote mountains far away from the hustle and bustle of city life - in Kufstein, you can discover all of this on a racing bike. Nothing beats cycling through the region’s Bavarian foothills of the Alps with their moderate climbs and challenging passes and seeing the magnificent Kitzbüheler Horn or the Zillertaler Höhenstraße with your own eyes. On days when you want to take it easy, you can cycle through the Inn Valley and enjoy the magnificent Alpine scenery from lower down.
The enjoyment continues even after you have finished cycling for the day: the delicious Tyrolean and Bavarian cuisine is part of every stay in Kuftsteinerland. Enjoy regional dishes made with love from local produce and spoil yourself in one of the cozy cafes with homemade cakes and hot coffee. At the end of an amazing day cycling, you can make yourself at home in your accommodation. Many hosts understand cyclists’ needs, so you don't have to worry about anything.

2018 was a very special year for Tyrol, especially for Innsbruck and Kufstein. Because 2018 took place here the UCI wheel WM, which with the street race of the elite gentlemen climaxed. The racetrack led the riders from Kufstein to Innsbruck, where some demanding "loops" awaited them before they had to drive back to Kufstein. A whopping 258 kilometers and 4,670 meters of altitude were needed for the pros to master. With this tour, you will follow in the footsteps of racers. However, on a clearly defused route, which still has 149 kilometers in length but still in itself. Between Kufstein and Hall, it largely corresponds to the route that the professionals also raced last summer. You start at the Kufsteiner city square and can probably imagine only vaguely what was going on here, as the peloton slowly began to move under the cheers of the audience. Instead, you can enjoy the tranquility and the magnificent Alpine panorama and soon reach the first climb to the sun plateau, on which the first racers could already set off from the field. The descent after that is steep and has it all. Along quiet roads you then pass the Reintaler lakes, climb the high plateau Gnadenwald on a long climb and head for Hall, where a visit to the beautiful old town is worthwhile. Here at the turning point of the round you deserve a long break. On the way back, you can enjoy the dead straight roads along the Inn and look forward to some nice highlights along the way. How about a trip to the pilgrimage chapel Mariastein or to the smallest old town in Tyrol, Rattenberg? Shortly before the goal of the tour, one last small climb awaits you, which brings you to the plateau of Angerberg, before you reach your destination in Kufstein exhausted but satisfied.
This demanding day tour takes you from Kufstein north to Aschau and Chiemsee. From there you drive in a large arc over Ruhpolding back through the eastern Chiemgau Alps. On the way you will pass impressive rock faces, enjoy breathtaking views and picturesque alpine roads. The tour starts quite comfortably along the Inn - a picturesque warmup program, but do not let that fool you into believing that this tour has it all. No sooner are you up to operating temperature than the most demanding climb of the day awaits you on the Niederndorferberg. He'll take you up to almost 1,000 meters and bring you the first 500 vertical meters of the day in one go. The fantastic views along the low-traffic mountain road, however, make up for every bead of sweat - the track is not in vain part of the "Great Rides" in Tyrol, which stand for the finest racing bike enjoyment.Direction Aschau it goes steadily downhill and while you roll in front of you, you can look forward to the Chiemsee. The picturesque Hohenaschau Castle or the impressive Kampenwand contribute to the unique panorama of this section of the route. In Bernau, you can make a detour to the Chiemsee - after about a third of the distance you have earned a little break on the lake. However, you can enjoy the view of the lake in the further course of the tour extensively. The hilly route along the foothills of the Alps offers you always beautiful views, before you leave the lake and start from Ruhpolding along the German Alpine Road on the way back. Past the Walchsee and Hochmoor Schwemm, two real scenic gems await you at the end of the tour. Shortly before the finish in Kufstein we can recommend a last break in the cozy Café Bär in Niederndorf.
