'Ländle' is what the locals call Baden Württemberg, the Southern German state through which the Stromberg-Murrtal cycle path cuts — bringing you right to the heart of this wonderful region. And this is not only meant geographically. On your ride from Karlsruhe in the west to Gaildorf in the east, you will discover both the scenic and cultural diversity of northern Baden-Württemberg. The cycle path leads through the hilly landscape of the Stromberg to the Neckar valley, from where it takes you through the idyllic Murrtal valley to your final destination. As you go, you'll cycle past small half-timbered towns, impressive castles, magnificent palaces, and breathtaking monasteries, as well as innumerable natural wonders, including quiet river valleys, wide vineyards, and hilly orchards. As you can see, the Stromberg-Murrtal cycle path is always a good place for a variety of experiences. Thanks to the beautiful landscape and the various cultural highlights, the cycle path was promptly awarded three stars by the ADFC.
The full path is just over 90 miles (150 kilometers) long as is best ridden over seven stages. As the individual stages are only between 9 and 18 miles (15 and 30 kilometers) and mainly follow flat cycle paths, the ride is also perfect for leisurely cyclists and families with children. Athletic riders can simply combine numerous stages and complete the route at their own pace. What's more, as each individual stage destination is home to a train station, you can also ride sections of the full route and spend one day in the saddle. In the small towns you'll ride past as you go, you'll also find plenty of guesthouses and restaurants.
