The unique summits and picturesque vineyards of Styria

In Styria, you will find a large network of hiking trails where you can explore the diversity of the region. In addition to attractive long-distance trails, beautiful hiking trails for day trips invite you to discover. In this Collection, we show you four of the most beautiful hiking trails between the rugged Dachstein and the lovely wine country in Styria — the north and south route of the long-distance hiking trail "From glacier to wine" and two wonderful day trips.

On the north route and the south route of the long-distance hiking trail "From Glacier to Wine", you can hike a long circuit that takes you from the Dachstein massif across the entire region of Styria to the wine-growing regions in southern Styria. You walk through the most beautiful mountain groups, stand on unique peaks, visit sleepy villages and lively cities. Thus, the 25-day south route and the 35-day north route offer you an incomparable insight into the nature and culture of Styria. Many of the 60 stages can also be used as day trips.

As a relaxed day-hike, we show you the "Power Tour Bad Blumau", which leads you through beautiful nature and past the Therme Rogner Bad Blumau, where you can relax and recharge your batteries. Somewhat more challenging is the mountain hiking trail from Leoben to the Mugel, which leads you to the 5,354-feet-high (1,632-meter-high) mountain to the Mugel Schutzhaus, where you can relax.

Spectacular mountains in the north and picturesque vineyards and apple orchards in the south - hiking in Styria between Dachstein and Weinland promises contrasts, unforgettable hiking experiences and enjoyment. Step by step, you will discover mighty mountains, silent forests, rushing streams and lovely gardens, fueling new energy in inviting taverns and through the enjoyment of the utterly unique nature. For which hike in Styria you will also decide — between Dachstein and Weinland unforgettable hiking experiences await you.

In Leoben the mountain hike starts on the Mugel. Right at the beginning you will pass the castle ruins of Massenburg, from whose viewing platform you will enjoy a magnificent view of the city of Leoben and the surrounding mountains. Through shady forest it goes uphill continuously. On the natural trail, which meanders through the trees, you can enjoy the silence of the forest, interrupted only by the twittering of birds and the rustling of the treetops. About halfway you reach the Spitz of Christ, a pyramid-shaped rock. Here the forest is a little bit lighter and you can enjoy the wonderful view of the valley and the surrounding mountains. From this point the path becomes a bit flatter and every now and then it leads you across wide glades. Shortly before the finish, it gets steeper again. In some places you wander in sharp bends up the mountain. Then you reach the Mugel and the Mugelschutzhaus at 1,626 meters altitude. Here you have reached your destination and can enjoy the magnificent view and the well-earned rest in the shelter to the fullest. If you feel refreshed, you either hike back or you spend the night comfortably in the shelter.
