The 450-kilometre cycle tour takes you through the Allgäu and beyond. The varied tour takes you through Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg and Tyrol. The quality route, which has been awarded four stars by the ADFC, is pleasant to ride, even though it has many gradients. Thanks to the good infrastructure along the route, the tour is suitable for everyone, whether hobby cyclist or ambitious touring cyclist. In this collection we show you how to cycle the Allgäu Cycle Route in seven stages from Bad Wörishofen. As it is a round trip, you can also start at any other point on the cycle path. The starting point in Bad Wörishofen is easily reached by regional train from Augsburg. From the Kneipp health resort Bad Wörishofen you cycle counterclockwise in several loops to the most beautiful corners of the Allgäu, which take you through places like Ottobeuren, Wangen im Allgäu, Immenstadt and Füssen. In addition to the pretty towns, the beautiful countryside, closeness to nature and delicious regional cuisine await you along the way. The cycle tour Allgäu starts in Bad Wörishofen. In the Kneipp health resort in the Swabian district Unterallgäu you come well by train. At the spa park you cycle out of the city. Here you also have the opportunity to do a lap to keep your legs fresh and fit for the first leg. Over some hills you reach a beautiful, flat field and meadow landscape. Behind the place Dürlewang it goes uphill again. After the climb, the Katzbrui mill invites you to take a leisurely break. Here you can enjoy regional cuisine in the mill restaurant.Strengthened you drive on through the slightly hilly landscape, which again and again offers wide, flat stretches and above all a wonderful view for you. You will pass picturesque orchards, wide fields and small wooded areas. Occasionally you come through cozy villages and beautiful places like Ottobeuren, where a stop is worthwhile. At the end it goes slightly uphill again, then you reach the stage destination Bad Grönenbach.
Behind Bad Grönenbach you dive directly into a romantic forest. Here you drive over a hill and then enjoy a long descent through lush green meadows and wide fields. On the banks of the river Iller you cycle to Illerbeuren. You leave the Iller and drive over some hills, which are covered by picturesque meadows and forests towards Leutkirch in the Allgäu. Here you can take a break for the first time. Slightly flatter the cycle path through the beautiful Allgäu countryside to Bad Wurzach, also a beautiful place that is well suited for a break with its many cozy cafes and restaurants.Behind Bad Wurzach it gets a bit hilly again, when the bike path leads you through a wonderful landscape of forests and meadows. Past romantic lakes glittering between the trees in the forest and an open landscape that offers you a wide view to picturesque mountains, you will cycle to the stage destination Kißlegg.

The third stage of the cycle tour Allgäu is a bit hilly, but you can enjoy magnificent views over the lovely landscape of the Allgäu. Passing through meadows and forests, you will pass from Kießlegg to Wolfegg, a nice little place that is suitable for a cozy break. Afterwards, the first bigger climb will take you through a beautiful forest. Here you can enjoy nature and admire carved sculptures along the way. A rapid descent takes you over the town of Waldburg, where you see the castle of the same name perched on a hill, through an open forest and meadow landscape. Wonderful views are waiting for you here in abundance.At one of the lowest points of the route you reach Wangen. Here is worth a long break. On a leisurely stroll, you can enjoy the old town with its historic buildings and, incidentally, stop in one of the countless cafés and restaurants. Freshly fortified you are then ready for the last big climb of the day, which brings you through other beautiful villages and villages through forests and meadows to the stage destination Isny im Allgäu.
Also on the fourth stage of your bike tour through the Allgäu wait for you some slopes, which provide for exciting variety and uniquely beautiful views. From Isny in the Allgäu you cycle first in moderate ups and downs through the beautiful green meadow landscape of the Allgäu. Charming villages and romantic forests, which extend a bit off the bike path, ensure the purest picture book idyll. After a few kilometers, you will cross a high bridge where you will cross the Upper Argen, which flows deep below you through a ravine called the Eistobel. In the gorge, a hiking trail runs, if you want to see them up close.Via Lindenberg in the Allgäu, the cycle path winds its way through the beautiful landscape, which sometimes gives you a glimpse of the Alps. After a nice descent you will reach Weiler in the Allgäu. Here you can take a break and strengthen yourself, because then the last big climb awaits you. Once at the top, you cycle relaxed on a flat, even slightly sloping route through the valley of the Konstanzer Ach, which finally flows into the Great Alpsee. You drive along its shore and can let your eyes wander over the sparkling water. Then you roll past the Kleine Alpsee and finally reach the stage destination Immenstadt.
From Immenstadt you cycle relaxed through the beautiful valley of the Iller directly along the shore. At Sonthofen you make a short detour over green hills and enjoy the breathtaking view of the Alps. Just before you reach the southernmost part of Germany, you change direction and drive back north. At the height of fish, you will again reach the shore of the Iller river, which you will follow on the flat cycle path to Sonthofen. After Sonthofen you cycle for a few kilometers through a flat plain until it goes uphill again.Above you can enjoy a fantastic view and take a break at the Rottachsee. On hot days, it invites you to cool down and in cooler weather, the clear lake will simply enchant you with its sight. You cycle a big loop, pass the Grüntensee and cross the border to Austria shortly before the final destination. Here lies Jungholz, today's stage destination. Jungholz belongs to Tyrol, but is completely surrounded by Bavaria and only accessible via Germany. The locals therefore like to call it: "A piece of Tyrol in the Allgäu."
In Jungholz you drive on a beautiful route through the forest and then cross the border with Germany, where you cycle along the river Wertach. At the height of Unterjoch you turn east and cycle again to Austria. Here you ride on a flat stretch along the banks of the Vils, enjoying the magnificent Alpine panorama and coming through cozy villages where you can take breaks and enjoy the good Tyrolean cuisine. You cycle around the Einstein in an arc and then roll back to Germany on a long descent that leads you through beautiful mountain scenery.Here the bike path takes you through the idyllic Allgäu meadow landscape, which stretches in front of a picturesque mountain backdrop. Past the Hopfensee it goes on a flat stretch to the stage destination Füssen, where you can end the day in the charming old town.
Today is the last stage of the cycling tour Allgäu. It leads you downhill for long distances and is thus a particularly relaxed end to the bike tour through the most beautiful corners of the Allgäu. From Füssen you cycle directly to the shore of Lake Foggen. Here you can let your gaze wander over the water and admire the mountain panorama on the opposite bank. After leaving the lake behind you cycle comfortably on a former steam railway through a charming forest and meadow landscape. Halfway you reach Marktoberdorf. Here you will find cozy rest stops for a relaxing break.Freshly strengthened you roll from now almost only downhill. Parallel to the Wertach you drive over Kaufbeuren past picturesque fields and pastures back to Bad Wörishofen, the starting point of the tour.
