The Tannheim Valley is considered the most beautiful high valley in Europe. No wonder, because with scenic attractions it is not stingy: lush green meadows, beautiful lakes and an impressive mountain scenery accompanied you on your road rides — no matter whether you are a professional cyclist or a leisure sportsman.

Among cyclists, the Tannheim valley has been known for a long time, because in 2001 the team of cyclists from Austria rode through the valley. And even the professionals noticed the scenic attractions of this unique region. Since then, the valley of Tannheim has become an ideal region for targeted training or extensive rides. Tannheim is an ideal starting point for long racing bike tours to the surrounding regions such as Lake Constance or the Arlberg. But also recreational athletes get their money's worth on a large number of short laps.

The fact that professionals and hobby cyclists feel at home in the Tannheim valley is certainly due to the picturesque landscape of the 10-mile (16-kilometer) long high valley. The dreamlike mountain panorama, lush green meadows, crystal blue mountain lakes and peaceful villages characterise the picture. In addition, there is very little traffic in the Tannheim valley and not even a single traffic light. Another advantage is the easy accessibility. The high valley lies directly behind the border from Bavaria to Tyrol, so that you can arrive stress-free. Ideal conditions - after all, you want to spend your free time on the bike and not in the car.

The highlight of the cycling season in the Tannheim valley is again this year's cycling marathon, which this year will take place for the 10th time on July 3,2022. For the marathon, where, in addition to the supreme discipline of 133 miles (214 kilometers) and 11,500 feet (3,500 meters) in altitude, there are also lighter alternatives with 80 miles (129 kilometers), 56 miles (90 kilometers) and the new 35 miles (56 kilometers), you should bring along good physical fitness.

The road bike weeks from 4 to 11 June and from 27 June to 2 July 2022 are the ideal opportunity to optimize your fitness with targeted endurance training and to get some valuable tips from the experts. The training runs are not about seconds and places. There is a relaxed atmosphere in which time for discussions remains - among others with the former road cycling pro Marcel Wüst, who is always involved in the excursions.

Whether you are a professional or recreational athlete - in the Tannheim Valley you will find the perfect combination of sport and recreation. This is also ensured by the 9 racing bike-friendly restaurants, from family-run guesthouses to elegant wellness hotels, which offer many useful services.
