The local mountain bike route Bernina Express takes its name from the legendary train of the Rhaetian Railway, which travels over the Bernina Pass, and is as varied as it is inspiring. The return from Poschiavo by train is part of this tour that connects the Engadin Valley with the southern Valposchiavo. From Samedan, the route leads along the Bernina valley through uniquely beautiful landscapes that repeatedly reveal the imposing glaciers of the Bernina massif. At the pass, turn left at Lake Bianco before the descent to Valposchiavo begins. After just a few meters down, you can feel and smell the southern climate and the changed vegetation. The terrace of the Belvedere restaurant or the buffet of the Alp Grüm station invite you to take a break and enjoy a breather. From Cavaglia you can follow the signposted route, which leads over gravel and asphalt roads, or choose the technically more challenging option along the railway line and the old path. On the train journey from Poschiavo to the Bernina Pass you get an impression of the pioneering spirit of the people who built this route more than 100 years ago. It is worthwhile, if possible, to sit in an open "convertible" car. The flowing descent from the Bernina Pass to Pontresina is the culmination of this varied tour.
What a prime example of a mountain bike paradise. The Suvretta Loop combines a single trail dream with the magnificent scenery of Val Suvretta and Val Bever. First you go on a forest road with a pleasant slope to the Alp Laret. After that, it gets steeper and more technically demanding. But as soon as you pass the mountain station Corviglia and still make a good 200 meters in altitude, you will reach a dream path around the Piz Nair to the Suvretta Pass. On the next six kilometers, flow, flow and again flow is announced. In the Val Bever the path leads into a well-kept gravel road, but also its waves are great fun. Back via Samedan to Celerina. Fun guaranteed!
