A bike path, pure nature and adventure air around your nose. This part of the North Sea Coast Cycle Path leads you on the mainland of Denmark through a wonderful dune landscape, enchanted forests and wide marches, along lakes, fjords and of course the uniquely beautiful North Sea coast, which fascinates with its endlessly long sandy beaches, huge shifting dunes and spectacular cliffs.
On the ten-day bike tour from Grenå on the east coast via the northern tip to the German-Danish border on the west coast, exciting stretches of dirt roads, sandy paths and miles of beaches await you. The different lengths of the ten stages, which range from 50 to 90 kilometres, provide additional variety. If the individual tours are too long for you, you can simply halve them. This gives you even more time to visit the many fascinating lighthouses that are so typical of the North Sea coast in Denmark. You can also explore and enjoy the beautiful coastal towns and fishing villages along the way.
The stage destinations of the approximately 780-kilometre long tour are often cosy holiday resorts on the coast with many overnight accommodations. Here you can choose whether you want to relax on the beach after cycling or whether you need more action and prefer surfing or kiting. And if you fall in love with a place on the way or simply want to take a break until the next day, that's no problem, because there are so many campsites and other holiday accommodations on the route that you can even spontaneously shorten a stage.
Are you looking for a unique tour through Denmark? Then, for example, you can book a train or air ticket to Aarhus, from where you can take the bus to Grenå starting point - it usually allows bicycles. If you are coming from the North Sea Coast Cycle Path in Sweden, you can take the ferry from Varberg to Grenå and start cycling. At the end of the tour we have included a short stretch from the border to the German town of Klanxbüll, so that you can take the train from there. Of course, you can also continue directly on the German part of the North Sea Coast Cycle Path, where you will pass through Niebüll after about 20 kilometres, which also has a railway station.
Here you will find the other parts of the North Sea Coast Cycle Path as collections to help you plan an even bigger adventure:
