A bike path, pure nature and adventure air around your nose. This part of the North Sea Coast Cycle Path leads you on the mainland of Denmark through a wonderful dune landscape, enchanted forests and wide marches, along lakes, fjords and of course the uniquely beautiful North Sea coast, which fascinates with its endlessly long sandy beaches, huge shifting dunes and spectacular cliffs.
On the ten-day bike tour from Grenå on the east coast via the northern tip to the German-Danish border on the west coast, exciting stretches of dirt roads, sandy paths and miles of beaches await you. The different lengths of the ten stages, which range from 50 to 90 kilometres, provide additional variety. If the individual tours are too long for you, you can simply halve them. This gives you even more time to visit the many fascinating lighthouses that are so typical of the North Sea coast in Denmark. You can also explore and enjoy the beautiful coastal towns and fishing villages along the way.
The stage destinations of the approximately 780-kilometre long tour are often cosy holiday resorts on the coast with many overnight accommodations. Here you can choose whether you want to relax on the beach after cycling or whether you need more action and prefer surfing or kiting. And if you fall in love with a place on the way or simply want to take a break until the next day, that's no problem, because there are so many campsites and other holiday accommodations on the route that you can even spontaneously shorten a stage.

The long-distance cycle path winds along the coast over several hills first to the west and then to the north, where you cross two Danish fjords, which look very different from the specimens in Norway or Sweden, more like a normal river. At the last of the two, Mariager Fjord, lies the stage destination Hadsund. Here you can enjoy all the benefits of a small town and relax, to be fit for the next day and the next stage.
Today's stage has 93 kilometers in itself. A fantastic experience, which is followed by the beautiful nature reserve, by which you cycle to the coast. From here it goes on the remaining nearly 50 kilometers always in the immediate coastal area to the north. At the same time, you are again crossing a Danish fjord, the Limfjord, with a beautiful view of the sea.In the stage destination Sæby you can look forward to a charming old town with half-timbered houses and narrow streets. The small coastal town offers itself to rest and recharge your batteries to master the next section of today's tour well. It goes to the beach, where the North Sea Cycle Route leads directly over the solid sand. Not a simple matter, which costs a little power. But the experience is absolutely unique. After this extraordinary adventure there are still a few kilometers to go, but they are mostly flat. Only a small increase just before the finish again provides a bit of action. Then you can let yourself roll calmly into the stage goal Thorup beach.
The wide landscape of Denmark with untouched nature and hardly a human soul is in the foreground of today's stage. 70 kilometers will take you from Thorup Strand to the final destination Nørre Vorupør. Then the cycle path meets the coast again, where you can look forward to a varied landscape and especially spectacular viewpoints. Today you see on the coast not only dunes and sand, but also breathtaking cliffs. So that your neck does not become stiff, if you are always looking at the sea, you may also like to let your gaze wander to the left side. There you can admire innumerable lakes, which are in direct proximity to the coast. So you often ride your bike on a kind of dam between the sea and a lake or fjord. The stage destination Thorsminde is located on such a narrow piece of land between the North Sea and the Nissum Fjord. Although the resort is very small, there are plenty of places to stay, such as the campsite.
On the way to the south, today it goes from Thorsminde to Henne beach again past many lakes and fjords, which merge almost with the North Sea and are separated only by narrow strips of land. Not only the 85 kilometers make the stage so demanding, but also the gravel sections of the cycle path. The beautiful dune landscape, the wide view and highlights such as the lighthouse Lyngvig, from which you get a great overview of the unique landscape that consists of a narrow strip of land between the North Sea and Ringkøbing Fjord, or the small town Hvide Sande make the Track extremely fascinating and varied. In addition to Hvide Sande, you will also be traveling through other idyllic places where you can rest and strengthen yourself. The stage destination is the coastal village of Henne Strand, a popular holiday destination with relaxed people and a beautiful kilometer-long sandy beach. Here you can have a good time and recharge your batteries for the next day.
Today is the shortest leg of the tour of Denmark. On 52 kilometers, it goes from Henne beach in one of the largest cities in the country, to Esbjerg. If you're a bird lover, you'll get your money's worth right at the beginning of this day tour.
