The magical Harz mountains have captivated people for centuries. Numerous stories, legends and myths are entwined in the many impressive cliffs that rise into the sky here. In this Collection, I’ve put together eight Tours which reveal the beauty of the Harz Mountains, from lofty heights to their most beautiful cliffs.

You hike through the wildly romantic Oker Valley with its many bizarre rock formations that attract climbers from across Germany and beyond. Near Bad Harzburg, you can climb the Scharfenstein cliffs, with their spectacular views or observe lynxes at the Rabenklippen cliff, overlooking the Brocken, the highest peak in the Harz Mountains. The Hohnekamm ridge is more challenging and wilder and the ascent of the Landmannsklippe is the most alpine landscape in the Harz.

Some Tours include refreshment stops, but I recommend packing a picnic. The rustic shelters and rocks with magnificent views are great places to enjoy a long break.

Even if it's not the Alps, the Harz is still a low mountain range with changeable weather conditions. Pack a waterproof coat and wear sturdy shoes on the stony paths. With the right gear, you can explore the wild side of the Harz. The mountains are calling!

The Okertal is a true paradise for climbers in the Harz Mountains. There are probably more cliffs in one spot in northern Germany only in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. But hikers will also get their money's worth here. Along the way there is one promising rock after the other and even if this tour is

This hike takes you to the Harz foothills and to two of the most spectacular rock formations the Harz has to offer. Instead of the typical Harz granite, you will find impressive sandstone cliffs here, which soar into the sky weathered black - no wonder that several legends and myths are entwined around

If you prefer to take it easy, this short hike might be for you. Despite the short length, you will be rewarded with a fantastic view from the remote Hahnenklee cliffs. If you want to extend the round a little, this tour can also be combined with a detour to the silver pond or to the Achtermannshöhe

On this short hike you will explore the deep Elendstal - a corner of the Harz Mountains that also deeply impressed Goethe. The Snoring Cliffs served as inspiration for the Walpurgis scene in "Faust". And at the latest when you stand at the foot of the impressive snoring cliffs, you will realize why

This tour combines some Harz specialties: good food, wildlife and history. From the wildly romantic Rabenklippen you have a wonderful view of the Eckertal and over to the Brocken and with a little luck you can watch the impressive wildcats at the lynx enclosure. A public feeding takes place here twice
