Fancy hiking along the edge of the Alps? Then you’re in luck. We’ve discovered seven high-altitude hikes that will slide you along the Alp’s upper-north side, winding you through the Chiemgau mountains and away from the tourist trails. Exciting roundtrips include the promise of peaks, and each route demands a fair amount of clawing, sweating and a whole lot of grit. But don’t worry: For your efforts you’ll be handsomely rewarded with spectacular views over Chiemgau and Berchtesgadener Land. And you’ll be glad you made the trip.

Climbing to the top is going to take a certain amount of mountaineering experience, a sense of orientation and the ability to not get dizzy, however, as these seven Tours are not for the faint of heart. If you’re not one to shy from a challenge, the peaks of Hochries, Hochplatte, Hochgern, Hochfelln, Hochstaufen, Hochschlegel and Hochkalter sit in wait. And while you will be tested, we promise: Once you conquer one, you’re going to want to conquer them all. So off to the mountains with you!
