Hiking a mountain is always a special experience. Sometimes steep and demanding, sometimes gentle on wide forest roads. Along the way, there is a lot to see – but nothing exceeds that moment when you're at the top and your mind is carried away by the view over the mountain ranges. And even better: Sleeping on a hut where you can enjoy these magnificent views during sunset and sunrise in a even more magical light.
We curated some easy and intermediate tours to huts in breathtaking mountain sceneries. They are distributed in the Austrian states of Corinthia, Salzburg and Tyrol as well as the Italian South Tyrol. The tours to the Seethalerhütte, Pendlinghaus and Tabarettahütte can also be easy day hikes, but overnights are just way better. On the huts you’ll get the most wonderful views, alpine hospitality and delicious local food. Time to enjoy yourself.
From the parking lot Lenzanger to about 1.480m, it's only about a paved and later on gravel roads to the end of the valley at Naturfreundehaus. Directly behind it begins the ever steeper path, first in the forest, past the Barbara waterfall up to the new construction hut at 2,176m. Follow the signposted path up to the Rojacherhütte at 2.718m. The small managed hut offers 10 beds, so if you want to stay overnight, reserve early!
The wonderful hut is located directly on a lake and in the environment there are two climbing gardens and a via ferrata on the Säuleck. Countless other tours lead you up to various summits. There is something for everyone. A true mountain sports paradise. The ascent is in 2.5 hours from the parking Dösen on beautiful hiking trails.

At the top of the Dachstein lies the Seethalerhütte, the highest hut in the region. It is located directly on the exit of the Johann climbing route and offers you a breathtaking view of the Hohe Tauern. Whether day hikers who come up with the Dachstein-Südwandbahn and hike across the glacier path from the Hunerkogel to the hut, the many mountaineers who set off for the Dachstein massif or via ferrata, who have just conquered one of the most massive and longest via ferrata (Anna & Johann station wagon), The shelter offers all recreation and refreshment.
The Tabarettahütte is located on the Marltschneid, directly on the way to the Payerhütte at an altitude of 2556m. From the sun terrace you have a magnificent view of the impressive Ortler north face and the Tabaretta via ferrata, the Sesvenna and Ötztal Alps. Reschen and Haidersee seem close enough to touch. From Sulden you come up in 2 to 2.5 hours. Whether as a hiking destination or base for the tour of the Ortler north face (only for very experienced mountaineers), the hut offers every cosiness and an imposing vision.
If you look at the Pendling from Kufstein, you can already see the Pendlinghaus at the top. From Thiersee you can reach the top in about 1.5 hours. The view makes one of the socks. Alternatively, there is the ascent of Langkampfen, starting at the Stimmersee, which leads over forest trails in just over 2 hours up.
The Similaunhütte is located in the Ötztal Alps at the foot of the Similaun and is a much-used base, especially for the high tours on the Similaun and the Fineilspitze. Also as a destination of the day, the hut is visited over the beautiful hike. The approach of Vent is a bit lengthy and is often combined with an overnight stay.
