What would we be without the mountains. Without their overwhelming silence. Or that crystal clear air, which is bringing us back to the here and now in an instant. Those stone giants, that don't get tired of showing us again and again, how tiny we actually are, while we are fighting our way upwards, meter by meter. And yet there are hardly any other places, that make us feel free as much as the mountains do. The number of highlights you create here, to tell other outdoor enthusiasts about them, testify it every day. We have handpicked the most inspiring ones for you in this collection. This has been a fabulous year, thanks to you. And we can not wait to see all the exciting places you are going to show us next year.
When the mighty mountains are reflected in the emerald green lake in the morning, it is worth stopping for a moment and becoming aware of the magic of this place. While it continues, around the lake (1 to 1.5 hours) or high up to the Seekofel (2,810 m), nature awakens slowly. On the return, the lake seems transformed - or was it the mountains that changed us?
The three parking lots at the lake are chargeable, campers can stay overnight free of charge (as of 2015).
Hiking Highlight (Segment)
Through alpine terrain, the Ötztal Höhenweg leads directly from the Tiefenbachferner car park down to the self-proclaimed mountaineering village of Vent. Surrounded by rust-brown boulders and a magnificent alpine panorama, you will meet sheep grazing and pass some waterfalls. For a short rest, for example, the mountain lake on Weißkarbach offer. But even below the Weißkarkogel there are some suitable places with a great view. The descent is already a bit on the legs (over the entire route overcomes about 1000 meters) but otherwise the trail is easy to walk, in some places it helps to be sure-footed and free from giddiness (:

The Gran Paradiso (4061m) is not only a popular four-thousander because of its auspicious name, but above all because the technical difficulty is limited. Nevertheless, very good condition, glacier experience and equipment, as well as care in front of crevasses should be in any case with the party. At the often crowded summit ridge it is then necessary to keep a cool head, so that the cliques do not get confused. By the way, an overnight stay at the Rifugio Vittorio Emanuele II or Rifugio Chabod is recommended to everyone, so on the summit day "only" 1300 vertical meters have to be overcome. Do not forget to book;)
The bright turquoise high mountain lake at 1657 meters altitude is one of the most beautiful hiking destinations in Tyrol. Here you can refresh yourself in the cool water. On windless days, the Zugspitze massif is reflected in it. If you do not have enough, head up to the Coburger Hütte and the Drachensee.
WOW! No matter where my gaze wanders up here - 360 ° pure postcard motif. But the best way to enjoy the feeling of pure freedom without any technical bells and whistles. The cows next to me, however, seem to be relatively unimpressed by the vast panorama.
Wow! Here at 2166 m you can experience a nature spectacle like from a picture book. Quietly, the Klaussee embeds itself at the summit of the Klausberg. Particularly splendid is the play of colors made of green meadow and blue water, in which the mighty high peaks such as Schwarzstein and Löffler are reflected. From the mountain station Kleinklausen you can reach this wonderful place in 1,5 hours.
Tip: With the cable car from Steinhaus up to small lunches you save 600 hm and about 1 hour way.
The Gornergrat is certainly one of the places you must have visited at least once in your life. The cog railway from Zermatt train station is easy 365 days a year. We were here on January 1 and had in the half hour drive still a queasy feeling in the stomach. Arrived at the top it was at the latest after we spotted wild ibexes as swept away.
