3 days of bike crossing in the Black Forest

When the temperatures are crisp, you could easily lean back and claim the bike season is over. Or you can see these unfavorable conditions as a challenge, fight the pre Christmas laziness, that is taking over all around, and go on your last bike adventure this year. We have picked a little jewel for you and altered according to the season: The Black Forest is now as beautiful as ever, with its dream-like trails and landscapes from a fairy tale book.

We took the official Bike Crossing route and turned it into a modest 3-day tour, going from south to north. It will lead you through wide valleys, curvy trails, lonely gravel roads and narrow single tracks. Diversified, bumpy and fast is how the Black Forest presents itself these days. Get ready for the last big adventure of the year.

The first day of this three-day tour is leisurely and leaves you plenty of time to travel. If after the short but exhausting tour your energy reserves are not exhausted yet, you can make a short detour to the 886m high Heuberg. There you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Swiss Alps and can watch the local gliders as they make their rounds. For the overnight stay you can either use the farm campsite Rüttehof (waypoint 4) or the Gasthaus Adler (waypoint B) 5 km away. How to get there: Get off the train in the morning in Bad Säckingen and get the momentum for the next few days on this shorter stage.

Here, at 1267m, there is a magnificent panorama over the surrounding valleys and mountains. With a favorable view, you can even enjoy a wonderful alpine panorama. Constantly descending then on a mixture of gravel, gravel and smooth asphalt, past waterfalls and dense forests. A perfect tour day full of highlights.

Day 3 has begun. Thus, the last section of the total of about 160 kilometers long tour. From the rather contemplative Todtnau, today it goes through the beautiful Black Forest in the city of Freiburg im Breisgau. Even the sections could not be more opposite. From the popular and frequently visited Todtnauer waterfall, the spring water rushes loudly over the granite massif into the valley, to the height of the summit. There you will not hear much more than cow bells and the panting of other athletes. Arrived in Freiburg im Biesgau, you can fill up the energy storage with the offered delicacies at the weekly market.
