Alpine hut to hut mountain biking trips are some of my favourite. Long hard climbs, technical descents and the ability to travel light with Refuges at the top with food and shelter.

My friend Julia Hobson runs a mountain bike guiding company in the Alps and had a few days free. I headed out to join her and explore a small pocket of riding in the Aosta region in Cogne.

The riding and climbing required for these Tours is advanced, and you’ll encounter serious exposure and technical descents.

Once at the pass we had a incredible smooth descent, fun and flowy, almost like a

  2. Day 2 of our Italian hut to hut MTB trip; the word epic doesn't even cover it.

The descent down from Rifugio Grauson was dreamy, with long fast sections of relatively smooth trail mixed in with a few spicy rock sections and tight corners. The descent takes you all the way back down to Cogne and takes

  4. Day 3 of our Italian MTB hut to hut trip. After recovering from our epic climb on day 2, we decided to have an early start and get today's climb done early. The hut staff mentioned a storm maybe coming in around lunchtime, and given our route today went up to 3,100 metres, we didn’t want to be up high
