If you’ve always dreamed of walking among UNESCO World Heritage landscapes and the greatest peaks of the Eastern Alps, this Collection is for you. It will only take you three days to fall in love with the Dolomites of the Val di Fassa in Trentino, in northern Italy, and you’re guaranteed an unforgettable adventure!

In this Collection, you’ll experience the Dolomiti Trek-King, an itinerary of about 40 kilometres (25 mi) with 2,800 metres (9,450 ft) of elevation gain, divided into three stages. You’ll set off from Ciampedìe and arrive at Campitello, passing malghe (shepherd's huts), wide valleys, refuges and passes with breathtaking views of Catinaccio, Marmolada and Sassolungo. Each stage begins and ends at an alpine hut, ready to welcome you with traditional cuisine and the atmosphere of the high mountains.

You’ll dive into the past on paths travelled by pioneers writing the history of Italian mountaineering, and witness indelible traces of the First World War. Often, your steps will be cheered by the bells of grazing cows and, if you turn your eyes to the sky, you may spot soaring birds of prey.

The best time to embark on this adventure is definitely autumn when the leaves take on vivid hues of red, yellow, orange and gold.. At this time of year, the sky is cobalt blue and the heat becomes more bearable. Put some summer clothes in your rucksack, but don't forget warm clothing: the route is at altitudes well over 2,000 metres (6,500 ft) and it’s essential to protect yourself from temperature changes. Take waterproofs, sturdy boots and trekking poles. Always make sure you have a good supply of water and a few energy bars. In the first and third stages, you’ll find several refuges along the route, where you can fill your water bottle and get something to eat.

Ciampedìe is easily reached by cable car from Vigo di Fassa. The latter is connected to Bolzano by line 180. Line B101 of Trentino Trasporti, on the other hand, connects Campitello with Vigo di Fassa. For more information, visit: suedtirolmobil.info/en.

Every step along the Dolomiti Trek-King fills you with unique emotions and breathtaking views. It only remains for me to wish you a pleasant walk!
