"You have only been to a place, if you went there by foot", said Johann Wolfgang von Goethe once. He would have been able to afford a horse and a carriage, but the German poet preferred to explore his favorite places while hiking. We could not agree more! Follow Goethe's traces to places, in which he found his inspiration for poems, stage plays and drawings. One of his favorite destination was his birthplace Frankfurt Main. He had direct ancestors from Limburg and Wetzlar and loved to go hiking there, too. To visit his beloved Charlotte von Stein, the poet often hiked through Weimar and in the Harz Mountains. With these six selected tours, you can discover the varied landscapes, green coniferous forests and small villages of Central Germany, which inspired and enchanted Goethe.
What does this tour do under "Weimar"? Is probably a mistake.
