Historic old towns, glittering lakes, endless orchards and nature in abundance await on your bike tour through the Leipzig region.

The flooding of former open-cast mines has created a true lake paradise with great bathing beaches. On the 100-kilometre (62 mi) Neuseenland cycle route, you can explore the Leipzig Neuseenland and take a dip in the cool water in between.

The Obstland Route is a particularly tasty Tour. Saxony's largest fruit-growing region runs through the Leipzig region – a picturesque, hilly landscape with extensive plantations. Small farm shops offer the opportunity to sample local fruit, vegetables and juices.

Once across the Dübener Heide, you can take the Torgian Cycle Route, which connects the Elbe Cycle Route with the Coal Steam Light Lakes Cycle Route. In addition to vast forest and moorland areas, there are also some cultural highlights to see here, such as Hartenfels Castle in Torgau, the Bergschiffmühle in Bad Düben, and the baroque castle in Delitzsch.

You can cycle along the Mulderadweg from Rochnitz and Leisnig without any notable climbs. There are several castles and palaces to discover on this section of the 400-kilometre (249 mi) cycle path.
