The Carlit proudly stands atop the Pyrénées Orientales, reigning over a picturesque massif. With its summit reaching 2,921 metres (9,583 ft), this granite peak is the emblem of Spain's Capcir and Cerdagne regions. This proposed loop meanders through unique villages and mountain lakes (known as Estanys in Catalan) before culminating in an ascent to the summit.

Nestled between the Spanish and Andorran borders, the massif and its highest point offer breathtaking panoramas. From the Canigou to the Pic d'Enfer and the Pic d'Estats, you'll witness the majestic peaks of the Pyrenees and the multitude of lakes and valleys in the area.

In this Collection, I present a three-stage loop starting from Porté-Puymorens. This village is nestled amidst the mountains in the Catalan Pyrenees Regional Nature Park. The pristine nature here is perfect for outdoor pursuits year-round, with a ski resort open in both summer and winter. Porté-Puymorens has a train station with several daily connections to Ax-les-Thermes; you can easily reach Toulouse or Perpignan from here.

During your adventure, opportunities for refuelling will be scarce outside of Les Bouillouses. Therefore, carrying enough food, water and purifying tablets is crucial. Additionally, I’d recommend booking your accommodation in advance if you prefer to avoid wild camping along the trail.

Lastly, it's advisable to embark on this trek between early June and late September, as this period ensures the absence of snow on the higher sections of the route.

Now, all that remains is for you to set off and discover this magnificent massif!
