Merano is well-known for its spa resorts, offering high-quality accommodation, as well as culinary delights and spectacular scenery. This makes the town an ideal starting point for extensive hikes in the surroundings. If the weather lets you down, you can make the most of your time by staying in the city. Music events, theatre performances or a visit to Trauttmansdorff Castle’s famous gardens will ensure you have a memorable stay.
The five Tours in this Collection are varied so there's something for everyone, - whether you prefer to admire disused mines or swim in mountain lakes. As with all my Collections, the individual Tours are suitable for different abilities. The most difficult route is the summit Tour to the Ifingerscharte, while the hike on Merano's local mountain is more gentle. All Tours require a good basic level of fitness, but are easily manageable for most hikers.
My personal favourite Tour is to the mine on the Schneeberg. The combination of untouched nature and the miners' village historic charm will no doubt stay in your memory for a long time. The Tours are at their best in high summer, i.e. from the beginning of July to the beginning of September. But depending on the weather, you may be able to hike a bit sooner or later in the season. I recommend keeping a close eye on the forecast, especially for the longer hikes and turn back early if necessary.
Merano is located in the Burggrafenamt region of South Tyrol. You can travel here by train or car; the town is an hour's drive from both the Swiss and Austrian borders. The Merano Guest Card offers discounts at various attractions such as outdoor pools, climbing gyms, and museums. This card is issued free of charge by the Tourist Association’s partner businesses.

This tour takes you into the beautiful mountain landscape of Hochmuth and then on to the Mutspitze. The relative proximity to Meran and the first ascent with the gondola make this tour ideal for last-minute hikers.

On this tour you go to the Ultental, more precisely to the Rabbijoch, which connects the Rabbi Valley in Trentino with the Ultental in South Tyrol.
Since the tour is very demanding and the ascent to the Haselgruber lakes in particular is very long, I recommend that you start as early as possible in the…
