You prefer looking down from the mountain top rather than marveling at it from far down below? You'd rather spend the night in a rustic alpine hut than in a five star hotel? This multi-day hike through the Allgäu Alps is exactly what you’re looking for then. Moving from hut to hut, you’ll cross high winding routes, via ferratas and lush crests covered with flowers while enjoying the company of the famous peaks of the Allgäu Alps. Watch out for the occasional ibex!
Surely you can do the ascent to the mountain station of Kanzelwandbahn on foot, but there are four more long & exhausting day trips in front of us, we exceptionally take the train as a climbing aid.
From the top station, the first and only summit of the day awaits after about 30 minutes. After a short detour from the described route you can enjoy the wonderful panorama on the summit of the Kanzelwand and we get a first impression of the upcoming 5 day stages. From the summit, descend into a hollow and head towards the Fiderepass hut. Within sight of the hut forks the way and the highlight of today is pending: the Krumbacher Höhenweg. The first night will be spent at Mindelheimer Hütte: mindelheimer-huette.de
The second day of the Allgäuer round is characterized by a few meters of altitude. On the section between Mindelheimer hut and Rappenseehütte, however, numerous ibexes and also marmots (the latter in the area of the Haldenwang corner) can be observed.Below the Biberkopf, head towards the Rappenseehütte. Here you have another wonderful view of the Mindelheimer hut and the previous stage day.The 2,091m high Alpine Club Hut is the destination of this high altitude hike. The nearby Rappensee is also a nice end to the evening of a tour with many impressions. rappenseehuette.de

Today, rocky terrain shapes the route. From the Rappenseehütte, it first goes up 500 meters in the direction of Hohes Licht. The panorama summit can be installed as a variant in the tour. The following Heilbronner Weg (much committed in the summer months) is one of the most beautiful climbs in the Allgäu. Although it can not be compared in a "real" via ferrata, one should nevertheless bring vertigo and above all surefootedness. The right equipment is of course self-explanatory.Continue on the Bockkarscharte in the direction of Schwarzmilzferner, an old glacier that has clearly lost ground in recent years. Below the Mädelegabel for the Höhenweg on the south side of the Allgäuer Hauptalpenkamm finally to Kemptner Hütte: kemptner-huette.de
The almost 18km longest tour is on the schedule today. Although the connection between the Kemptner Hütte and the Prinz-Luitpold-Haus is always athletic with up to 1,000 vertical meters in the ascent and descent, once again unique impressions and summit panoramas compensate for the hardships.Especially in the area of the Kreuzeck, a fabulous summit panorama spreads when looking to the south. Northwards towers the "Gothic Cathedral", the Höfats in the area of the Laufbacher corner, the Allgäu shows again its flowers. The Prinz-Luitpold-Haus, below the Hochvogel, is due to its location, but also the construction a perfect destination for the last night in the high mountains: prinz-luitpoldhaus.deTip: For those who would like to spend more time one day: a day trip to the Hochvogel is certainly one of the most beautiful summit experiences in the Allgäu
Another long day tour with a length of more than 16km is on this last stage of the Allgäu circuit. After the ascent to Balkenscharte, the Jubiläumsweg offers a lively up and down and further impressive panoramas and a wonderful flora and fauna.A highlight of this tour is the Schrecksee, which shines like an emerald below the path and invites to a short detour.Otherwise it means enjoying one last time.Refreshment offers the Willersalpe.
