Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the wonder boy from Salzburg and perhaps the most famous Austrian. Millions of visitors from across the globe travel to Salzburg to see the house where this world-famous classical composer was born. Salzburg is more than just the Mirabell Gardens and Mozartkugel chocolates though. Surrounded by a fantastic mountain world and easily accessible, Salzburg is the perfect starting point for your next bike Tour.
In this Collection, we'd like to introduce you to the Mozart Cycle Route, a network of varied cycle routes in the SalzburgerLand, Tyrol, Bavaria and Upper Austria. You'll ride to places where either Mozart or his family worked and follow in his footsteps through the beautiful countryside. Large lakes such as Mondsee, Mattsee and Chiemsee as well as countless small, hidden lakes are ahead of you, as well as rushing streams and wide rivers. The magnificent mountain panorama is always close, either in the background or right beside you. Gentle hills, deep valleys, fragrant forests and romantic towns – on this Tour you'll experience the most beautiful corners of the Alpine foothills.
There are 23 stages in total, some very easy, others a little more challenging. Some are so short that you can ride two in a row. You can also choose from several variants and connecting routes to design each Tour as you like. So take a little time to study the routes, then you can put together your perfect trip and explore Mozart’s region with cheerful melodies in your ears.

The fifth stage takes you across the lake district to the Salzach and the border with Bavaria. After a climb, you drive through the Egelseen nature reserve and down to Mattsee. You circle the pretty Obertrumer See and a rapid descent brings you to the Salzach, which you then follow. In Oberndorf you…
On the first few kilometers you can expect wonderful panoramas of the mountains. Later you drive along the Schönramer Filz, one of the largest raised bogs in Bavaria. Here it is worth leaving the bike for a moment and taking a short walk. Then you drive to Waginger See, the warmest lake in Upper Bavaria…
On this stage you drive from Waginger See to Chiemsee. In Waging, Mozart recovered from his dismissal from the service of the prince-archbishop. The first kilometers are always slightly uphill. In terms of panorama, this particularly easy stage is one of the most beautiful on the entire Mozart Cycle Path. The entire route takes you directly along the Chiemsee from Chieming to Breitbrunn. You leave the Chiemsee in a northerly direction. But you will not lack for waters today. You drive past the oldest nature reserve in Bavaria, the Eggstätt-Hemhofer lake district.
