The peaks of the Pyrenees, the vineyards of Languedoc, the winding roads of the Cevennes, or the river paths along the Canal du Midi – the diverse landscapes of Occitania in the southwest of France are wonderful to explore by bicycle.

This Collection invites you to discover the beautiful Mediterranean coast at a leisurely or more sporty pace. Along the coast, you'll find fine sandy beaches, picturesque harbours and relaxed fishing villages. That’s not all though. You’ll also visit salt lakes, nature reserves, scenic canals... all from your saddle as you ride through Occitania.

A well-developed infrastructure and splendid cycling routes ensure that you can fully enjoy the beauty of the landscapes. To unwind, you'll stop in the region’s charming villages and savour the delicious local cuisine.

Thanks to the Occitanie Rail Tour, the ten routes in this Collection are easily accessible. It includes 19 train routes that allow you to explore all of Occitania in a responsible and environmentally conscious manner. Near the train stations, you can visit countless attractions, immerse yourself in nature, find delightful accommodation, dine on scrumptious food... The opportunities offered by the Occitanie Rail Tour are limitless!

The route aims to make travelling through Occitania by train easier, and to promote sustainable tourism and gentle mobility. When you hop aboard one of the trains, you'll discover true gems of the region that you might have simply passed by in a car. The best part is, it's incredibly affordable: the train ticket costs €10 per day for a minimum of two consecutive days. With it, you can ride unlimitedly on all liO trains in the region.

The routes are sorted from west to east. Gravel, hybrid, or hardtail mountain bikes are best suited for these routes. In the coastal towns, you can also rent a bicycle. The Tours are easy to ride and range from 30 to 110 kilometres (19 to 68 mi) in length. Thanks to the mild climate on the Mediterranean coast, you can enjoy them all year round.

To assist you in planning your journey through Occitania by train and bicycle, the interactive map with all the train stations can be found at visit-occitanie.com/en. You can get your train ticket here: ter.sncf.com/occitanie/decouvrir/rail-tour.
