The river valleys in Bavarian Swabia are ideal for cycling. Through lovely floodplain forests, across beautiful meadows and often directly along river banks, you roll leisurely downstream or pedal up gentle inclines upstream. There are many charming villages and towns worth seeing along the water, which spice up the nature-oriented cycle paths with cultural highlights.
All the rivers in the Bavarian Swabia region ultimately flow into the Danube so they’re all connected and open up lots of possibilities for cycle Tours. Depending on your mood, you can combine the various river cycle routes to create varied day trips or journeys lasting several days.
You can use the Danube Cycle Path as a connecting route or hop back and forth between the parallel river valleys. Mindel, Kammel, and Günz, which are very close to each other, are connected by ‘Rüber-Radler’ paths. The premium cycle path DonauTäler also links the rivers with each other.
The river cycle paths are well connected to the railway network, which allows you to plan your routes flexibly. Of course, there are many cycle-friendly hosts in our region who'll be happy to welcome you.
