Cycling in the Swabian Alb, you’ll cross impressive landscapes, and find inns, huts and restaurants where you can take tasty breaks along the way. A bite to eat and cycling go hand in hand. You’ll breathe in the fresh, high-altitude air and the scent of home cooked dishes. The Swabian Alb is also known for its brewery culture – and good barley juice has quenched many a cyclist's thirst.
You'll find nine Tours in this Collection that take you to the scenic and culinary highlights of the Swabian Alb. The circular Tours are spread across the hills between Stuttgart, Ulm and Donaueschingen. Mountain ranges, forests, culture, bodies of water and a wide variety of places promise pure variety. Cycle through the Schurwald, tackle the heights of the Zollernalb, cycle along the Danube, or explore the rock formations in the Lautertal.
Along the way, you’ll find rest areas where you can enjoy a snack. You’ll discover a delicious selection of regional products in local farm shops. Don't miss out on a visit to one of the many restaurants like the Kronbrauerei Schimpf and Berghütte Kraterblick, or take a guided Tour of the Berg brewery.
With the exception of the GONSO Trail mountain bike Tour, you can cycle all Tours with a normal touring bike – either with or without electric assistance. Most of the starting points are easy to reach by public transport, and a few of the Tours begin at a car park.
However, the most important thing is to start your Tour relaxed and take time for long breaks. Because in the Swabian Alb, you can enjoy cycling with all your senses!

On the third stage of the Swabian Alb Cycle Path, the route from Heidenheim an der Brenz is quite uphill at the beginning. The starting point of the round tour is at the Heidenheim-Schnaitheim train station. Along the Brenz you leave Schnaitheim and descend over a hill into the Steinheim basin, which was created by a meteorite impact. In Steinheim, it is worth making a detour to the Kraterblick mountain hut, from which you…
With a length of over 2,800 kilometers, the Danube is the second longest river in Europe and an important lifeline.
