These cycling Tours are exciting for the whole family. In the Swabian Alb in Germany, families with children of all ages can let off steam on their bikes.

In this Collection, we guide you along the region’s most beautiful family cycling Tours. On each, you spend the day pedalling together and are back home in the evening. Our Tours take you through various landscapes of the Swabian Alb, from the imposing high plateau and its ridge, the Albtrauf, to the Alb foothills.

Together, you cycle through extensive orchards and rare juniper heath with plenty of views of the Alb plateau. The Tours are between 15 and 60 kilometres (9 and 37 mi) long and most start at a train station, so you can easily plan your journey by public transport. You’ll ride along cycle paths and gravel roads with little traffic, so they’re relaxed and safe. You can make good progress here even with a bicycle trailer. The shorter Tours are also suitable for younger children. You don't need special bicycles except on the REBI Tour around Albstadt, which takes you over narrow trails that are better suited to mountain bikes.

There are all kinds of places to discover along the way, like the Sigmaringen Castle or the Marbach State Stud Farm. Children will enjoy the petting zoo at Kastanienhof, a water playground, or the bathing lake near Itzelberg. You can refuel in many restaurants and farm shops along the way. Alternatively, you can take some charcoal with you and have a BBQ at the Tiefenbachtal public barbecue area.

There's lots to discover here. In spring, the fruit trees blossom and in summer they bear fruit. You can hear and observe dozens of birds singing. At the viewpoints along the route, you can name towns and rivers or search together for your next stage destination in the distance.

No matter which Tour you choose – being on the road with the family is always an experience. Of course, don't forget sunscreen, take enough drinks with you, and wear a bicycle helmet. Thanks to the exercise, the healthy alpine air and (usually) a lot of sun, you may be a little exhausted in the evening, but you'll certainly be happy and satisfied.
