The Swabian Alb is a unique low mountain range in southern Germany that offers fantastic hiking opportunities from the Ostalb to the Danube Valley. Along the Alb ridge, you can expect fantastic views of a landscape characterised by karst rocks, volcanoes and caves. In this Collection, we present seven hikes that boast particularly beautiful panoramas.
Climb the Hanner Felsen near Bad Urach, explore the Hossinger Hochalb or feel chivalrous at Teck Castle. Rugged cliffs, magnificent castles and palaces or babbling brooks add to the diversity of the Swabian Alb. You’ll walk across juniper heaths, discover orchids by the wayside or enjoy the scent of the blossoming orchards. The hiking trails lead you through the unique landscapes and immerse you in nature.
The hikes in this Collection are between 9 and 16 kilometres (5.6 and 10 mi) long. There’s plenty to discover along the way. It’s worth taking time to enjoy the regional Swabian cuisine whilst you’re here too. Just in case, pack some provisions in your rucksack, so you can take long breaks for a snack while enjoying the beautiful views.
The hikes are all loops. You can reach the starting points by public transport or car (check the stage descriptions for car parking tips). The Swabian Alb is a true hiking mecca. Take a look for yourself and see for yourself.
Finally, did you know that lentils are grown in the Swabian Alb? They’re definitely worth trying!
The Hohenurachsteig leads through the beautiful landscape of the UNESCO biosphere reserve. The circular hike includes unique views over the city and the hilly landscape of the Swabian Jura, as well as narrow forest and meadow paths. The highlight of the tour, the Hohenurach castle ruins, is an old fortress…

Always following the red apple you hike along the "Dreifürstensteig". The varied tour takes you through meadow orchards to the 854 meter high Dreifürstenstein - a distinctive spur of the Albtrauf. And you can see it from the starting point on the so-called "Olgahöhe". But first you follow the path through…
On this almost ten-kilometer hike, the focus is on the Albtrauf - and from different perspectives. You will run below the steep edge and enjoy a little later the magnificent view from the edge of the hill to the Black Forest. Even the way itself offers variety: Sometimes you walk on green meadows, sometimes…
