Expect enchanted caves, impressive rocks and breathtaking views when hiking in the Swabian Alb. In the unique low mountain range, you’ll find some of the most beautiful hiking trails in Germany. They lead you through juniper heaths, typical of the Alb, to mysterious caves, through forests, gorges and valleys, along the scenic Alb ridge and to the most spectacular view points in the Upper Danube Valley.

In our Collection, we present seven of the most beautiful hiking trails in the Swabian Alb that lead to these fascinating places. The day Tours are 9 to 17 kilometres (5.5 to 10.5 mi) long and offer plenty of variety, views and insights into times long past.

Three of the Tours lead through the Upper Danube Valley, also affectionately known as the Swabian Grand Canyon because of its impressive geological formations. Here, panoramic rocks offer breathtaking views of the Danube, its loops and the valley. Near Albstadt, the Tour heads along the Albtrauf through a mystical sea of rocks. From the steep edge of the Swabian Alb, you also have unforgettable views that reach all the way to the Black Forest. Near Hayingen, you can dive into the beautiful nature of the UNESCO biosphere reserve on another premium hiking trail and explore the Wimsen Cave by boat. In Blaubeuren, you’ll follow in the footsteps of Ice Age hunters and pass through caves that are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Caves and Ice Age Art of the Swabian Alb. Bad Überkingen is another scenic spot. Here, above the Filstal, the Felsenrunde route awaits, which was voted Germany's second most beautiful hiking trail a few years ago.

Each of these hikes is certified as a Prädikatsweg (quality trail) and will give you many lasting memories – see for yourself.

This tour doesn't get its name by chance. Countless rocks await you along its almost eight and a half kilometers, from which you can let your gaze wander over the Danube. If you want to enjoy every single view to the fullest, you should plan more time - around four hours instead of the three hours stated

Breathtaking beauty, rugged cliffs and postcard-worthy views helped the “Felsenrunde” lion trail to win the title of the second most beautiful hiking trail in Germany in the hiking magazine three years ago. And rightly so. But it's best to see for yourself on the almost 14-kilometer lap.
