A trip to the Pinzgau is an incomparable experience, where both young and old, nature lovers, adventurers and explorers get their money's worth. In this Collection, you’ll find nine hikes for the whole family with a variety of child-friendly activities and attractions: gushing waterfalls, mysterious caves, lush alpine meadows, a small glacier and views of some of Austria's highest mountains.
The Pinzgau is located in the south of the Salzburger Land, a beautiful region in the heart of Austria known for its breathtaking nature and the towering mountains of the Hohe Tauern National Park. The area attracts winter sports enthusiasts from around the world with its numerous ski resorts and cross-country ski trails. But, in summer, its infinitely beautiful mountain panorama and extensive network of trails are an absolute paradise for hikers and mountaineers.
The Tours presented here take you to the most beautiful corners of the region. On relatively straightforward hikes, you explore the thundering Krimml Waterfalls, walk past the deepest glacier in Central Europe to the Birnbachloch and storm the peaks of the Braunkogel, Frühmesser and Schneeberg. You hike through flowering alpine meadows and forests to the Steinalm in Saalfelden, the Marmorsee and through the Sigmund Thun Klamm around the Kaprun Klammsee. You can also explore themed hiking trails for children: the Panorama Trail on the Schmittenhöhe, Montelino's Adventure Trail in Saalbach and the Fairytale Forest in the Lofer Alpine World. Adventure playgrounds are also along some of the hikes.
Almost all routes take you past alpine pastures or mountain restaurants where you can enjoy traditional Pinzgau cuisine. This Collection is aimed at adventurous families with children between the ages of 6 and 12. All Tours are designed for the summer months from June to September. As there can be unexpected changes in the weather at higher altitudes at any time of year, check the weather forecast and snow conditions in advance. In any case, make sure you have sturdy shoes, weatherproof clothing, sufficient sun protection and headgear.
A family holiday in the Pinzgau is a feast for all the senses. An unforgettable time full of adventure and relaxation with your loved ones awaits you in the fantastic mountain landscape.
