When fresh powder covers the Austrian alpine landscape, it's the perfect time to strap snowshoes under your feet. Set off into the untouched, snow-covered winter world and enjoy the peace and quiet on the almost deserted routes.
In this Collection, we’ve put together four inspirational snowshoe Tours in Austria's hiking villages. They’ll take you to the snow-white Ötztal valley, to a panoramic peak in Carinthia or to the wildlife on the Großglockner. The hikes are between 4 and 9 kilometres (2.5 - 5.5 mi) long, so you can choose the Tour that suits you best.
Regardless of whether you start out as an ‘old’ snowshoe hare with friends or on your own, or whether you take a guided snowshoe experience to get started, remember that you’re moving in the midst of sensitive and, in winter, often untouched nature. With this knowledge, a few snacks and a hot drink in your luggage, as well as warm gloves, shoes and hat, a breathtaking time awaits you in the dreamy snowy winter world of Austria.
Hold your nose in the wonderfully fresh winter air and enjoy the crunching of the snow under your snowshoes: This snowshoe hike takes you from Gries up to the cozy Nisslalm. So you can spend a winter day in the middle of the incredible nature of the Ötztal.
It starts at the hiking car park near the Tiroler…
