It’s a bit contradictory to speak of summits when you’re in the Netherlands or in Belgium Yet the peaks you reach on these walks are very diverse and varied, sometimes boasting unexpected beauty. Indeed, a ‘summit’ isn’t necessarily on a mountain.

Do you know the largest ship lift in the world? It’s in Belgium. Have you ever seen the world's largest storm surge barrier? You’ll find it in the Netherlands. Fancy swinging above the city of Amsterdam, climbing dizzying stairs or crossing a boat bridge? These are just some examples of the routes offered in this Collection... There’s something – and a different type of ‘summit’ for everyone.

We offer eight weekend walks spread across the two countries and, as a bonus, a mini trip into Germany. In its own way, each walk will take you a little higher. You discover that there are so many great things to discover in these small countries.

There’s lots of variety here, from the cobblestones of the alleys of Mons city centre to the muddy paths of the Ardennes forests, along the floodplains of the High Fens. Varied terrain is no problem, because with the TERREX Free Hiker 2 shoes you can go anywhere.

The Continental rubber outsole guarantees grip on wet ground, while the midsoles' BOOST technology provides energy return that relieves your muscles and joints. The high upper is also a plus, providing more protection for your ankles. We recommend the Gore-Tex version, in order to stay dry on these hikes.

On top of this, the shoe is made of at least 50% natural and recycled materials, as we feel it is our duty to conserve resources and reduce plastic waste. More info can be found here: adidas.co.uk/men-terrex_free_hiker. Click the link at the bottom of the page to discover our full hiking collection for women.

Each route is designed to take two days and includes information on where to find accommodation. Of course, you can split these hikes up as you see fit.

In theory, you can do these walks all year round, but in practice we recommend between spring and autumn. The weather is generally milder and nature more beautiful. However, remember that waterproofs are essential, even in summer!

Starting from the famous belfry of Mons, you gradually leave the city passing through some of its nuggets: the Mayeur garden, the Waux-hall park, or even the Hyon waterfall.

After crossing the Bois Là-haut and its plant tunnel, here you are in the countryside of Mons. You reach the small village of Siennes

Here we suggest you go exploring in the Hautes Fagnes, also nicknamed “the roof of Belgium”. It is a very unique landscape of moors and peat bogs that characterizes this region and it is sometimes hard to believe that we are indeed in Flat Country! Some landscapes are so surprising that they could make

Here is a hiking proposal that is a little more urban than the others. The route starts in Nessonvaux, a small village in the Vesdre valley, to end in the city of Liège and follow some of its unsuspected paths and alleys.

This hike connects two of the most important but also most beautiful cities in the Netherlands: Utrecht and Amsterdam. This astonishing course is placed under the theme of water. Zeeland is the only province in the Netherlands that consists of islands (peninsular). This province has a long history of flood control and containment. Water will be omnipresent during this hike, salt lakes inviting you to swim, streams, ponds
