There are a thousand reasons to go on an adventure. Reconnecting with nature or with oneself are two of the best. But sometimes, hiking is also a way to connect worlds and generations and to bring passionate people together.

In this Collection, we’ve explored the four corners of France to find unifying ‘summits’ to offer you, in a series of 14 hikes. These summits are not necessarily mountain peaks but often represent examples where nature or humanity continue to unite people.

These places can take many forms. A refuge on the Mont Blanc massif, which allows the world of hiking and mountaineering to come together. A passage in the Pyrenees, the Brèche de Roland, which opens a door between France and Spain. That of a semaphore, at the tip of Finistère, which links sailors to the mainland. Or that of a Himalayan footbridge, the longest in France, which draws a line above the Lignon gorges.

In the Collection, you reach each of these summits on a two-day itineraries, which you can do on a weekend. Hikers of all types, rookies, recreationalists, strollers, naturalists, seasoned sportsmen and women, you’ll find a route to suit you and to feed your enthusiasm.

The proposed walks sometimes take the form of a loop, sometimes a one-way trip from point A to point B. Most are accessible by public transport, but a few routes are more easily accessible by car.

Once you’ve chosen your summit, all you have to do is pack your bag before setting off on your adventure. Practical information, such as what to bear in mind when packing, is included in the Tour descriptions.

To guide you through the kind of terrain you’ll meet in this Collection, we've created the new TERREX Freehiker 2, a versatile shoe ideal for multi-day Tours. It gives you confidence and comfort on all types of terrain, thanks to its Continental rubber outsole, which provides you grip on wet ground. The BOOST technology in our midsoles provides propulsion to relieve your muscles and joints, while the high cut is designed to give your ankles confidence. In addition, the shoe is made of at least 50% natural and recycled materials, as we consider it our duty to preserve resources and avoid plastic waste. Find out more here: adidas.co.uk/men-terrex_free_hiker. To see our entire women's hiking collection, click on the link at the bottom of the page. The TERREX Freehiker 2 is also available in a GORE-TEX version. Mesh reinforcements all around the shoe make your TERREX Freehiker 2 a durable ally.

So from astonishing views of Mont Blanc to other inspiring ‘summits’, this Collection awaits!

Like all the fortified castles that line the Vosges peaks from Colmar to Wissembourg, the Haut-Koenigsbourg castle was once divided: it protected and marked the former Franco-German border. Its enclosure and its privileged position, since it is the highest of the fortified castles in Alsace, even make

The mountaineer and writer, Gaston Rébuffat said of the high mountains that they are “out of this world”. The Albert 1er refuge reconnects the worlds. Welcome to the country of the Sucs, these dormant volcanoes of Auvergne. It is between them that the Lignon gorges meander. This canyon is also protected under the Natura 2000 biodiversity label. La Brèche de Roland is not just a simple pass. It's a wide-open door — 40 meters wide — between France and Spain. It is a passage between the valley and the high mountains. Between the National Parks of the Pyrenees and Ordesa y Monte Perdido. Between the green surroundings of the Cirque de Gavarnie

This micro-adventure takes you to the Gorges du Doubs, on the Franco-Swiss border. The site is sublime, preserved, hidden. But then why this repulsive name: the Ladders of Death. A passage dug in the middle of a cliff? The way to the mast is no less than that. From the outset, the project was to make an isolated forest accessible, with the aim of exploiting the trees whose trunks are renowned for their perfect verticality. A godsend for the masts of Louis XV's naval fleet.
