There’s something magical about spring. The flowers bloom, the days get longer and the temperatures rise. Many people are drawn to the outdoors again at this time of year, after a winter spent too long indoors. Due to the fact that there are so many worthwhile destinations in the Rhine-Main region that you can comfortably reach with the RMV, we'd like to inspire you to leave your car behind and combine a hike with a bus or train ride. This way, you can discover beautiful places with your whole family in comfort and without having to search for a parking space. The RMV group day ticket is the ideal way to access these hikes and is fantastic value too.
In this Collection, we present ten exciting and varied hikes, all of which are located in the RMV region and are easy to reach by public transport. Whether in the heights of the Taunus and Vogelsberg, on the banks of the Nidda, Rhine, Main and Fulda or in wonderfully fragrant orchards and hidden nature reserves – on these Tours you’ll hike through some of the area’s most beautiful landscapes. So, why not spontaneously hold your Easter egg hunt a little further outside than your own garden.
The start and end points of all the Tours are located at train stations or bus stops, allowing you to alight and start hiking right away. On most Tours, you'll find additional stops along the way, so you can adapt your hike to suit your mood, which is especially practical if you're travelling with small children. To provide even more incentive for the youngest among us to explore the great outdoors this spring, the Tours include cable cars, climbing gardens, summer toboggan runs, playgrounds and water games. So, in addition to the superb hiking, there's also plenty of other forms of excitement.

You can reach this with bus line 65. This is where your tour starts. After just a few steps through the green, the path widens and reveals…

Every child in the Rhine-Main area probably knows the Großer Feldberg. There is hardly a more popular destination for a weekend hike. The Neroberg is the local mountain of the people of Wiesbaden. You can take the bus directly to the mountain. "Nerotal" is the name of the stop. From here a steep path leads you up in a few loops. From the summit you have a great view over the Hessian state capital. There is an exciting climbing forest…
In the south of Darmstadt there are large areas of forest that are excellent for hiking. Due to the foothills of the Odenwald, it is hilly here, which is always associated with great views. The Main flows into the Rhine at the so-called Mainspitze. From this point you have a fantastic view of Mainz, which is on the other bank of the Rhine. The Kühkopf is an old Rhine island and a nature reserve. At the beginning of the 19th century the area was a peninsula. Bad Schwalbach is a fashionable spa town in the Aartal. The bus takes you right in front of the pretty Kurhaus, behind which the sprawling Kurpark stretches.
