Franconia is simply a paradise for cycling, with wonderful paths along rivers and lakes, across fields, through forests, along picturesque valleys, and up to scenic heights. The perfect starting points for your Tours are the Franconian cities and their beautiful city centres. Here, you can take a spin and admire the historical buildings afterwards. Your excursion is rounded off with a visit to a Franconian inn, where you can treat yourself to dumplings and carp, bratwurst and beer, or a bread roll with wine.

In this Collection, you'll find a cycling route for each of the 15 Franconian cities. They all combine the enjoyment of nature with cultural sights and are also easily accessible by train. In northern Franconia, the Main River winds its way through the landscape. Along its banks, you'll find six of the Franconian cities. Aschaffenburg enchants with its beautiful old town and its castle right on the Main River. Würzburg offers probably the best view (perfect for a glass of wine) from the Alte Mainbrücke bridge. Schweinfurt boasts historic landmarks and art museums. Bamberg prides itself on a particularly well-preserved old town and nine traditional breweries. The imposing Plassenburg towers over Kulmbach. This is also where the White Main and the Red Main converge, with Bayreuth located on its banks. Both Würzburg and Bamberg, as well as Bayreuth – famous, among other things, for the Richard Wagner Festival – are home to UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Forchheim, and Dinkelsbühl are special medieval gems. You’ll also explore Ansbach, with its Hohenzollern Residence, and Coburg, with its impressive fortress. Eichstätt has an ancient episcopal seat and is home to many Baroque jewels. Nuremberg once again presents itself with a wonderfully medieval old town and the Kaiserburg – Nuremberg Castle. In Fürth, the charming half-timbered and sandstone buildings are particularly worth seeing, and Erlangen is known for its beer gardens. Nuremberg, Erlangen, and Fürth are so close to each other that you can visit them all over a weekend.

The Franconian cities await you with a wonderful combination of culture and nature, which you can enjoy threefold after a refreshing bike ride and considering a delicious Franconian meal.
