The Teutoburg Forest holiday region is a great place for hiking. As well as wonderful natural sights, there’s loads to explore here. Follow us on ten varied circular walks ranging from just under 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) to a challenging 30 kilometres (18.6 mi) on a journey through the history of the region and its strong artistic heritage. You'll be amazed at what there is to discover in the forest and along the wonderful walking paths.
Take a trip back to your childhood on the Kaleidoscope Trail near Bad Driburg. The giant magic tubes show you the landscape in a unique and colourful way. Your curiosity will be piqued on the Barntrup Art Trail, when a large red chair suddenly stands in front of you amidst the greenery, and not far away, an oversized key – perfect for letting your imagination run wild. Make yourself comfortable in a gigantic wooden swing near Nieheim and visit the Försterteiche-Staffpark with its fascinating art project.
Follow the Haller tracks to ivy-framed graves and ancient trees for a particularly historical experience. It’s not just railway enthusiasts that will enjoy the spectacular viaduct hiking trail. Meanwhile, children's hearts will beat faster on the Wild Thief route in Extertal-Silixen. A trip to the Kaiser Wilhelm Monument is, of course, a must to see, combining art and history in a single sculpture.
