Seit 2006 ist der Hochrhöner von Bad Kissingen nach Bad Salzungen als Premiumweg zertifiziert, 2010 wurde er sogar zum schönsten Fernwanderweg Deutschlands gewählt.
Am Roten Moor teilt sich der Hochrhöner in eine Ost- (Lange Rhön) und Westvariante (Kuppenrhön), welche sich bei Andenhausen wieder vereinen.
Ich war auf der gut 140km langen Westvariante durch die Kuppenrhön unterwegs, die Route durch die Lange Rhön ist ca. 20km kürzer.
Wer weniger Zeit hat, kann auch eine zentrale Runde mit ca 80km angehen, mit Sicherheit eine spannende Alternative. Natürlich hatte ich mit dem Wetter enormes Glück, aber auch bei schlechteren Bedingungen ist der Weg ausgesprochen abwechslungsreich und mit Sicherheit ein tolles Erlebnis.

The Rhönhof is only a few meters away from the Hochrhöner, so I can start straight away in the morning.
