The province of Malaga is rich with a history stretching back to 800 BC. Situated on the shores of the Mediterranean, it boasts a vibrant Spanish culture that attracts visitors from all over the world.
In this Collection, I invite you to embark on a five-day adventure in the province of Malaga. Specifically, this Collection focuses on the Gran Senda de la Serranía de Ronda (GR 141), one of the nine regions that make up the province. In turn, these five routes cover nine of the 22 municipalities in the region.
The province of Malaga tells its history through the architecture and the names of its villages. This land, which has been occupied for thousands of years, has adapted to the times without forgetting its customs and traditions.
This region breathes forests of intense green, bathes in crystalline rivers, gazes in awe at the immense ravines and impressive caves, hangs on limestone walls, walks through valleys and flies with griffon vultures.
It is for all these reasons that a journey through the interior of Malaga means learning, being surprised and falling in love with this incredible land.
This 70-mile (113-km) Collection requires good fitness and stamina. While the route is not technically difficult, it is long and has a cumulative altitude gain of 11,975 feet (3,650 m).
The adventure begins and ends in Ronda, a city that is well-connected thanks to its train and bus stations. All the stages end in villages where you have a variety of accommodation options. However, I recommend you book in advance.
Every day you can make a stop in a village along the way, where there is an opportunity to resupply. Even so, I advise you to bring plenty of water and some snacks, such as dried fruit and nuts or energy bars.
The best time to do this route is between autumn and spring. Malaga enjoys a privileged climate; the temperatures can be quite high even in winter. It is therefore important to start walking very early in the morning and wear a cap or hat, as well as sun protection.
It only remains for me to wish you a happy hike.

Ronda is one of the most charming municipalities in the province of Malaga. For this reason, a journey that begins here can only bring you surprises. You will discover incredible places, little-known places and wonders of nature that you probably did not know existed.
The first Route of the Collection…
The second stage of this Collection is very special, above all because it travels almost all the time through dehesa areas and mountain trails where coverage is practically nil. If you want to experience disconnection, you are in the right place.
As a characteristic to highlight, this Route has a variant…
Get recommendations on the best single tracks, peaks, & plenty of other exciting outdoor places.
The third stage is the shortest of the entire Collection. Along its 19 kilometers it is marked by the change of valley. So far we have seen the Guadiaro river in all its forms. From the municipality of Gaucín you will begin to enter, little by little, the Genal valley, which is home to a total of 15…
The penultimate stage begins, the hardest of the Collection. With its more than 26 kilometers and almost 1,200 meters of elevation gain, the route takes you to see four beautiful white villages nestled in the mountains that surround the Genal valley.
The first part of the journey takes you through a forest…
You are in the final stretch: only 19 kilometers separate you from Ronda, the place where this beautiful adventure begins and ends.
This Route is marked by two important milestones. First of all, the highest point of the route is the port of Encinas Borrachas, which is 1000 meters high. To get here you…
