It’s not easy to write something original about the Dolomites and their endless cycling possibilities. From mountain biking to road cycling, it feels like someone has already experienced everything here and captured it in words and images. The risk of repeating yourself is very high. Pretty much everyone will have seen a Giro d'Italia stage here at least once in their life. If you’re reading this article, you’ve no doubt heard of the Sellaronda Hero or Enduro World Series Fassa already. It may seem that there’s not much more to find out or explore in these parts as far as two-wheeled adventures are concerned. But… hold on a second!

There are still some unknown places that are kept secret by a circle of passionate cyclists who venture out on tracks that combine forest roads and trails.

Today’s goal is a loop around Val di Fassa, passing through some of the most beautiful places that characterise this part of the Dolomites.

To call this a gravel track is certainly a stretch compared to typical routes; it borders on XC at times. But, if you push your limits, the views between Sassolungo

The Dolomites, and Val di Fassa in particular, are synonymous with climbing. You’ll encounter a lot of elevation gain today as you ride towards the Gardeccia Refuge, up the Costalunga Pass and towards the Latemar massif and the Lusia Pass.

Perhaps the easiest day of the three, this ride in Val di Fassa is nonetheless just as impressive. After the superb descent to Malga Bocche and Lake Paneveggio, you arrive in Predazzo and climb up the valley along a splendid cycle path.

At Soraga di Fassa, the climb to the Pociace Refuge begins. The final
