The marathon distance is the ultimate challenge for many runners. There are legendary events in almost every major German city and the number of participants increases year after year. In this Collection, we’ve selected ten of the most famous routes for you and picked out sections of ten kilometres (6.2 mi) each so that you can get a taste for them. Maybe you're training for a marathon yourself, or maybe you'd like to get to know each city’s highlights. Whatever the case, all of these routes have already seen top performances. And now it's your turn!
Obviously, some of these routes will take you along major roads that are unfortunately only closed off on race day. Since it's not much fun to run in moving traffic, we've made sure to guide you along footpaths that run as close as possible to the original route. This way you get a good impression of the marathon while being relaxed and, above all, safe. Of course, in the big cities you also have to pay attention to traffic lights, crossings and other traffic-related infrastructure. Therefore, please note: It is not about best times, but about getting to know the cities from a new perspective. So please take care at all times during your run.
