Die Perle der dänischen Nordseeküste
Collection by Lust Nach Frei

Beautiful place with flat and high far view. The benches on top of the cliffs give your eyes a beautiful view of the wide open country and the huge lake "Nissum Bredning". Further down the shore, there are some jetties that reach far into the water. With a bench to linger or a ladder to jump into, into the cold North Sea water.

Here are bunkers of various types close to the beach. At the parking lot, which is located nearby, there are picture and text panels, with lots of information, including the stranded shipwrecks. Also nearby a rest area with toilet, and the Sneglehuset with interesting facade.

Here is a cluster of bunkers that are (still) visible. A bunker will probably be sunk in the sea and in the sand in a few years. The main purpose of this bunker was to protect an anti-tank gun and its crew. The other bunkers are machine-gun bunkers and ammunition bunkers.
In total there are (still) half a dozen bunkers here, which were part of the Thyborön fortress and thus also of the so-called "Atlantic Wall".

In January 1945, the German coastal defenses in Denmark received eight 15 cm guns, which were set up on Fynshoved and on Hesbjerg near Gilleleje. Due to steel shortages, eight guns were delivered without armored shields.
This cannon was installed at Hesbjerg and was moved to Kongelundsfortet at Mager after the war. From 1963 to 1993 she stood at Langelandsfortet in a Danish-style gun turret.

Walking from Harboore to Thyboron is no picnic. But a wonderful challenge. Because running straight for about 6km non-stop makes you question yourself at some point as to whether you are running at all or whether you are standing still. On this endless section there is only you & your head, the legs just walk.

This observation bunker on the Thyboron fjord was used purely for security. Because between Thyboron & the other side of the fjord, a blockade of countless sea mines was laid. Which could be detonated from the observation bunker. But apart from the dark epoch of our time, this bunker still serves its purpose today. However, the entrance is not easy to find. Especially in stormy conditions, not everyone's cup of tea. You can get to the bunker by walking between the beach promenade and the North Sea to the jetty and then turn right to the bunker.
