Tobogganing, ice bathing and hiking – winter away from the slopes

After a short refreshment in the Elsenalpstube mountain inn after a hike up to the Uga toboggan run, you swing onto your sled. The natural toboggan run, which takes you back down from the mountain station of the Uga Express, is 2.5 kilometers long. You can go night tobogganing in Damüls every Wednesday and Friday from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

You can sled three kilometers down the Pill natural toboggan run from the Hochgurgl middle station. If you don't want to hike up to the station and sled, you can also use the lift here.

In the ski season, the cable car is open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. From 23.12. you can also take part in night tobogganing every Thursday.

From mid-November, the mulled wine hikes with fluffy companions are on the Pattererhof. The hikes always lead you from the farm of the Friedam/Kaufmann family through the wintry landscape and back.

A ride on the sled, a sled dog workshop or a snowshoe hike with your four-legged companions: you can experience all of this in winter with Husky Toni, the nickname of the owner Toni, his family and a total of 18 sled dogs.

When a shiny, frozen surface spreads out over Lake Fuschl, the ice skating season begins. With polished runners, you can do your rounds on the glittering ice and revive childhood memories - or create completely new ones with your offspring.

Ice cold, but so good for body and soul: You can take a dip in frozen waters in several Austrian lakes. One of them is the Zauchensee.

If you have not yet practiced ice bathing, then you should start training in the fall and slowly approach it, so that you can then climb into the water, which is only a few degrees cold, in winter.

With the whole family you can go ice stock sporting on the frozen Weissensee in winter. Even as a beginner, you can try out the popular winter sport on the natural ice curling rink at the Tschatscheleria on Lake Weissensee. This can be combined with a fantastic winter hike along the lake shore.
